HELP...I need suggestions on pain relief
My hips have started spreading very quickly, and it's causing me a LOT of pain, not to mention that the baby spends most of his time down in my pelvic region. It's getting to the point where I can barely walk, and if I'm laying down, forget it, I have to have DH help me up. I've tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs, and that's not working. Does any one else know of any other pain relief methods?? I've also tried tylonol, that doesn't work either. I don't remember this hurting even half as bad with DD. TIA
I had lower pelvic and back pain with my second child. The doctor told me it was normal, but it sure didn't feel normal. It was really uncomfortable! What I found helpful was sitting on a tone-a-ball, you know the big balls that you use for stretching. I would sit on it and kind of rock front and back and back and forth in a circular motion (sorry, I don't know a better way to explain it). It did help relieve some of the discomfort. I hope you find something that works for you.
Those balls are wonderful. I would lay backwards on them and rolled it back & forth. I sat in front of them & leaned over it & just kind of rolled it around, dh also massaged my back in this position. Some hospitals use them to help with labor. Bouncing on it helps drop the baby. Go get a professional massage, those are great during pregnancy.
Chiropractors that are experienced with pregnant women are wonderful. They helped all my pain (including that nerve that starts at your bottom and shoots down to your heel (siatic- sp?)) go away- COMPLETELY! They are wonderful. Many of my friends use chiropractors during preg. as well and their pain has either become bearable or has completely gone away. Good Luck!
I thought of going to a chiropractor, there's one here in town that specializes in pregnant women and children. I'll have to see if the military will cover it. Thanx for all the advice!
Tricare doesn't cover chiropractic care for dependants. However, my kids and I see one regularly and it's not too expensive. I pay $140 for 5 visits (my doc has a pay for 4 get the 5th free deal). The kids are half that. I see mine every three weeks unless I need to be seen more often (for problems) and the kids are going once a month now. My chiropractor is also a daycare parent. They're a husband/wife team and we see the wife. She also specializes in women and children (including pregnant women). He specializes in sports and equestrian (yes, he adjusts horses and even dogs!). Give it a try. It can't hurt and could be the answer to your problems.
Please, don't go to a chiropractor or do any exercises until you have talked to your doctor. You are pregnant and this is a special condition, and you'd hate to have something go wrong because the chiropractor did something that shouldn't have been done.
I started going to my chiropractor when I was 7 months preg, and it was the best move I could have made. My doc agreed that it was the right thing to do, as long as she didn't do any major adjusting. It's certainly worth looking into.
Most doctors have no problem with chiropractors. You will probably find that they, infact, encourage their expertise! Let me know how it goes, Melana!
