Party advice needed

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Party advice needed
By Bea on Saturday, August 14, 2004 - 04:41 pm:

We are planning a Splash Party next week, if Charlie doesn't wreck our yard. Does anyone have advice on how to melt the ice and get a bunch of old folks playing in the pool?

The yard pool and deck will be lit with strings of lights and torches. I'm serving finger foods, wine, beer and soft drinks. The hot tub will be open and lit also.

Push them in?? Tape money to the bottom of the pool?? Sounds like fun, but no "real" ideas. I would think it would just be relaxing to be in the water. Have fun!

LOL, push them in :) No great ideas either. You might have some that will go in and others that won't. Make the best of it and have a great time1 Oh and by the way excellent pics!!

When they arrive, direct them to a cabana-type area or room where they can into their suits. Have availabe, robes/towels for them, to cover themselves. They can also wear these poolside, undrape themselves and slip into the pool.
Also, I know when I am at a party, the last thing I want to do is look like a drowned rat while eating dinner, etc. In the invite, suggest the guests to carry along some items to "freshen up' in case they get wet. :)
Games: Dive for silver dollars, half dollars, quarters.
Scavenger hunt in the pool with sinkable items.
Vollyball

Hope this helps! Have fun! :)

It sounds like so much fun! Maybe throw in a couple of beach balls. Pick up some of those "noodles". (they are like $1.00 each) It's amazing how you can float around with those things! They might thing it's neat.
I hope you have a great time!
Be sure to tell us how it turns out.

What is that game?

Marco Polo?

Don't know how to play.

Saw it on the Sopranos.

Like one person dives and touches the legs of another. That person does it to another. I have no idea.

They play it different.

I went to ask.com

you could put in pool games for more.

If you get in and have a friend get in with you..others will follow or just push them in.

It looks nice, so what time do you want us there?

Thanks for all the good advice.
The party starts at 7:30 on Friday. Wear your suit and bring a towel.
