Wedding gift idea?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Wedding gift idea?
By Annie2 on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 - 07:21 pm:

My dh is traveling, by plane, to a former highschool friend's wedding next week for the weekend. Only taking a carry-on. It is his friend's third marriage, he is 48. It is the bride's first marriage, she is 29. (I know, I know....;), if I could buy her advice, I would! )
Anyway...I have no idea where she is registered, etc. I want to spend about $50.
Any ideas what I should send with my dh?
Thanks!

A gift certificate to somewhere national, like Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware would be my suggestion. Easy for your dh to pack and the bride is guaranteed to find something she likes. I hope it goes well.

I actually think it is more common to give either cash or a gift card than a gift at the wedding. They usually get so much at showers that there isn't much left over they need!! Cash is always great because they can get what they need or use it for the honeymoon!! I see nothing wrong with cash!!

Just put the cash in a nice card! That was my most favorite wedding gift :)
With their ages and circumstances, they are probably both pretty well set as far as dishes/towels/etc.
Cash is always great IMO!!!
And, it will fit nicely in the carry on ;)

I love Redenvelope.com! Here is one of my favorite gifts to give:
Photo coasters

one more:
Wood photo coaster
They could put their wedding photos in them!

I have posted this before, but I love to give a set of really nice wind chimes as a wedding gift. They usually come in a nice box and could easily fit into a carry-on.

I'd go with the gift card/gift certificate, especially considering the circumstances - 3rd marriage, age, etc. You don't know what they've got or don't have or need or don't need. Gift cards can't go wrong. Buy a nice card for them and put the gift card in it.
