Pine sap in clothes?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Pine sap in clothes?
By Tink on Sunday, August 1, 2004 - 08:01 pm:

Does anyone know how to get this out after it has already been washed? When we went camping my youngest must have rolled in it and then in dust because her favorite shorts look like they have been covered in splotches of tar. That'll teach me to take decent clothes camping! I already tried Shout Gel (my favorite stain remover) and GooGone. I don't know if there is anything else out there worth trying before I toss them and claim that they must have been "left at the campgrounds." *EG* BTW it's terrible the things we will lie about, isn't it?

I always heard turpentine would take it out.

I use Pine Sol to remove sap. Pour it on right from the bottle, rub it in well, and wash in the hottest water advisable for the garment.

I was just going to say Pine Sol! LOL Bea recommended it to me for something a long time ago. Since then, I use it for nearly everything :) It really does work.

Any tips for getting tar out of clothes??? I sat on a step last night and got some on the seat of my pants. They're not denim, but the thin cotton material (they're tan cargo pants). I've done some searching online, but out there in the big wide web I don't know who to trust. I trust you all here. :) tia

Butter will take out sap. I spread butter on the sap, scrape off then spot treat the butter with spraynwash and put immediately in the washer on warm. Pine sol sounds easier, I will try it next time!

PineSol is a miracle worker! Thanks so much, it all came out without leaving any kind of mark. You guys are the best.
