Convention
I am just wondering how many people watch the Political conventions. If you do watch them do you just watch the party you are backing or both?
I find them to be a rah-rah-pat-em-on-the-back good old boys parties, so I tend to ignore them. It's a lot of money spent to nominate the obvious candidate - money that could be spent to feed and clothe the poor, or even better - to our military men and women (I know they're not getting rich for what they're doing for us). This is how I feel about the conventions of *both* parties, which is why I don't consider myself truly in one party or another, but look at issues and candidates and use my gut. I suppose that was more info than you asked for, but it was on my mind.
Not me. But- showing my age- how many remember when there were only 3 channels and that was *all* that was on?
I asked the question, but never answed it. My dh & I are opposite politically. I enjoy watching the conventions, but don't always get the chance because of dh. I actually watch a little of both to get the different opinions & such. Although I didn't get to watch any of it last night. However Kay does bring up a good point, we know who is running why waste the money.
I dont. But Dick Cheney is at Camp Pendleton as we speak talking with the troops and Oh how I wish I were there!
I watched a little last night. I probably won't watch again until Kerry is on. I may watch some of the Republican Convention, too, at least the time Bush is on. I am interested in what both of the candidates and the parties have to say, even though I have already made up my mind. One of the news stations was explaining where the money comes from for these conventions and, while some is from those who checked the little box on their income tax form, most of it is from corporations. There is apparently no limit to how much can be spent, so it can be as lavish or simple as they want. I find them to be a rah-rah-pat-em-on-the-back good old boys parties Hey, doesn't everyone like a good party?
To bad no one is going to reimburse the small businesses that are being forced to close this week due to traffic restrictions.
I watched a good chunk of it last night. I like politics, a lot. Runs in the family. My grandfather was a Mayor and other family members worked in politics. Look at our genealogy, you'd see we are a bunch of politicians, teachers, preachers and writers.
