Ok, here I sit a little over 36 weeks pregnant. And I do realize how blessed Iam getting this opportunity again.. I really hate to complain about being pregnant.. With that said, Ive managed to get bothered by a small pesky problem(AKA Hemorrhoids)...ugh..Iam so uncomfortable. And IAM NOT constipated, just the opposite.. It started on Sunday.. Ive never had it last this long ever.. Ive tried all the OTC stuff, and what people recommended..The Tucs Pad(Witchhazel)burn so much, though many people swear by them.. Ive been using Prep H, and it takes away slight discomfort, but it never completely leaves. Ive been sitting in a warm bath and that helps temporarily..
Iam going to the dr tomorrow for my weekly checkup, and Im hoping she can prescribe something stronger.. Im just do darn uncomfortable :( Ive never had this happend to this extent before. I do read its common in pregnancy when women are constipated, but Iam not.
People say Prep H is the best OTC stuff, but it doesnt help more then a few minutes.. I dread having to use the bathroom.
And as anxious as Iam to have this baby, I couldnt imagine wanting to push feeling this way...:(
I hope my dr can give me something stronger tomorrow. Im even embarassed bringing this upt o her.
Anybody try any otc the stuff, or any other remedies that works wonders?

I feel for you. I had one after I had Rylee. I used Tucs and a spray called Durmoplast. They only worked temporarily, but the spray felt good going on because it was cold. I also used it for my episiotomy(sp?). I hope that your doctor can give you something to keep you feeling ok. (((((HUGS)))))

Warm baths several times a day
sitting on the donut pillow to relieve pressure
ice packs
this is what helped my husband who had severe ones.
No need to be embarrassed. It can happen to anyone and is common in pregnancy.
Good luck!

Absolutely do not be embarassed, and do ask your doctor. It is terribly painful, and if not taken care of you risk the possibility of bleeding and infection, so don't take it lightly. There are prescription suppositories which I have used, and I also use over the counter suppositories but am at work now and can't check the brand. Warm baths do help. Your drug store may have a sort of bowl that fits over the toilet seat for doing what is called sitz baths. Use the donut pillow. Use stool softeners, but not in excess, as diarrhea won't help a bit.

It's not only constipation, it is the pressure of the growing baby and a number of other issues having to do with this little blessing rearranging your internal decor. Please, do talk to your doctor about it and make sure she knows just how much discomfort (which for me sometimes became downright really bad pain) you are having and how often.

{{{HUGS}}} I've heard refrigerated Tucks are helpful. Hang in there! You're in the home stretch now. Don't be embarrassed, and definitely ask your doctor for suggestions.

I feel for you, Jackie! After delivering my DD and all that major pushing, OUCH! Dermaplast Spray was my best friend. It's a little numbing too and it might help. You could also try a little hydrocortisone cream. Feel better.:)

Jackie, I totally understand how you are feeling. I am going throught that right now, from pushing out Taylor. Although my don't sound as bad as yours. For me the PH seems to help and that spray/foam that Eve was talking about really helped while I was in the hospital. I have a brand new bottle that I never used when I got home and I will mail it to you if you want. Maybe if you ask your doctor tomorrow she might even have a bottle of it in the office.
I can't wait to see pictures of your new little one!! Keep us posted. It will be great having another sleep deprived mom, due to having a new born, on the board. :)

Anusol is the medication my doctor recommended when I was having this problem. But there is a prescription version that works much better. And when Scott had a really serious problem his doctor prescribed a pain medication ointment placed internally and externally and it really, really helped. Please, do talk to your doctor. You are most definitely not alone.

Tomorrow is my drs appt at 10:40,and thats the FIRST thing Im going to talk about...I sat in a warm water bath earlier for about 25 minutes and it felt so good...but the relief was only temporary. Ive used Prep H 4 times today, and it still burns :(
I have been in the house all day, as its really depressed me and havent felt like going or doing anything.. That is so not like me, but everytime I move it HURTS .
Im hopeing my dr will prescribe something as Im going to tell her that all the OTC Ive used doesnt really help...
Thank you all for your suggestions..

My sister just had a baby two weeks ago. She had this very problem at the end of her pregnancy. I had them with all three of my pregnancies post or pre labor. I had them really bad when I was PG with the girls, I ended up on bed rest because of mine. Lets talk about painful. One of the ones my sister had had to be lanced because it had formed blood clots. For mine they just gave me medication and I stayed on my back as much as possible. LOL The weight of the pregnancy and gravity play heck on a pregnant womans insides. Take care and I hope they can give you something that works really quick.. I feel your pain..

I had the same problem and have had problems with them since about age 15. My DH had to have surgery like around 6 years ago because he was having so much problems. They had even tried special made suppostries, and every ointment made to help him and he just wasn't healing. We swear by simple old Vaseline. It seems to help more then even the products made for the problem. Try to watch what you eat also and that might help. Like corn, lettuce, popcorn and nuts.

If you are just the opposite of constipated then be sure you drink plenty of water. You don't want to become dehydrated!
Hope your doc has some helpful suggestions on how to deal with the pain.

My dr didnt have any other suggestion except to try the Anusol.. She said it wasnt that bad, although to me it feels like the size of small elephant..I bought some, but its still so annoying and making me extremely crabby and depressed.

By Laurazee on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 - 08:26 pm:

Been there! I used something called Nupercainal and some baby wipes soaked in witch hazel each time I, erm, had to go. Tucks are o.k. but they're small and expensive, so I bought a plastic box of baby wipes and just kept pouring a bottle of witch hazel in there so they were soaked.

I had the Anusol, too, but had the exact same reaction as you. Good luck. I wish I could say "done that," too, (as in, it finally went away) but I sometimes still get them. Ugh.
