On my local news they just reported that a little girl who was takeing a swimming lesson drowned!!! How does that happen?? She was ready for the first grade and the operaters of the pool were unavailable for comment!! Did you hear about it Emily?? It happened in Riverton but the girl lives here. Her poor family. You wuold think your kid would be safe from drowning at a swimming lesson. It's just so sad. My dh is outraged!!

I haven't had the TV on today. How sad.

I know I can't believe it.

Now that is just nonsense. I would be wanting answers and I would be wanting them now. A first grader is just a bit to big to not be seen having issues in a pool.. Sounds like someone wasn't watching those children......

thats why they werent available for comment!!

I have seen some of the swimming classes around here. There are too many kids in the swimming classes.(free from the town)

There is no way the life guards can watch the kids.

In fact I was standing in the water last year and ds was under water for a second before I noticed. He was fine, but you see what I mean. I was standing right next to him. All it takes is one kid standing on another kids head for a few minutes. You know how unaware kids are.

It is a good warning for all of us to really watch kids in the water. Pull the seat right up to the water or go in the water.

Prayers for the family. Obviously not enough supervision. :(

My kids just finished swimming lessons at our town pool. The class sizes are small (no more than 10, but most classes are 6-8) and each life guard has 2 assistants to help with the kids. The assistants appear to be high school kids who are training to become life guards. Too bad not all pools are run this way.
