I need bifocals!!
Okay, I'm 44 and I knew it was coming but I went to to the eye doctor today and I need bifocals. The rest of the aging stuff hasn't really bothered me but this has! Probably being petty but I actually cried after I left her office. I did spring for the invisible bifocals but it is still bumming me out. Just wanted someone to vent to!!
I do understand - I now wear invisible TRIfocals. Advice: when you put them on, it will take time to get used to them. One trick I learned quickly was to actually tilt my head down, when going up and down steps and curbs, to see the step in the "normal" part of the glasses - if you just turn your eyes down you will be looking through the bifocal part and the perspective/distance will be wrong. That's why a lot of people spend a lot of time stumbling when they first get bifocals.
Oh Kathryn, I'm almost with you! LOL At 42, my eye dr has been dropping hints about my impending changes. I wear contacts, and I almost do better without them! Try to find a splinter or thread a needle? Forget it! Getting older is the pits!
Oh high five. I bought cat ones though for now in the +0.75 and guess what! I can thread a needle again!
I've been wearing bifocal glasses and contact lenses for years now. I hate them. I can't get used to the bifocal glasses, although the bifocal sun glasses are OK. The bifocal contact lenses suck, pardon my French! I'm considering trying mono vision. I wish I had the money for lasik!
I'm on the verge of needing bifocals. So far, I can still compensate by taking my glasses off, so the eye doctor didn't think I needed them yet. I have trouble with small print, but it seems I do fine if I just take my glasses off. I know bifocals are a pain in the butt and want to put it off as long as possible. I'm 44, too, by the way.
