Manhunt!
Never a dull moment ... I was getting my son ready for bed when my husband shouted that a police officer had just chased a mad into our backyard and through the creek onto the other side. Moments later a young officer came out of the creek. I asked him what was going on. He said that he was pursuing a guy in jeans and a black t-shirt and that if I saw him, I was to call 911. I asked if this was anything to be worried about, and he said he didn't know what the man was wanted for. A few minutes later, an unmarked car came down my drive way with a searchlight trained on the back of my property. Then, another police car staked itself out in front of my drive way with the lights flashing. I didn't get nervous until I heard a helicopter. There's been a helicopter with a searchlight circling overhead for over an hour now! Two officers with a K-9 came through not long ago to search the woods. Of course being 4th of July weekend, there are a lot of fireworks - and every time I hear them I jump, thinking they are gunshots. I'll let you guys know what happens (by the way, our county has the lowest crime rate in NY state, so this is very unusual). Ame
How scary... Let us know how it goes.. When I was in my teens we lived near a jail and every so often we would have a jail break. It would prove to be a long night until the caught the person.
Wow, I would be very nervous! Please let us know if the man is caught. Be safe.
Yikes! How did things turn out? I hope they found the guy. I think I would be a nervous wreck otherwise. Do you have a security system??
Did they catch him?
Scary. Did they get him?
Ame, That's scary! I would be sitting by my window watching to see if they caught him! Please let us know if you are alright!
Actually, my husband kept shooing me away from the windows, which was smart, but I couldn't stop looking anyway! We called our Town Supervisor who is a good friend and he was able to get some information for us. It seems that the police made a traffic stop and the driver jumped out of his car and bolted into my yard. I guess he had something to hide ... The police left close to 11:00 and my husband called the station to get an update. He was told that the incident had ended (suspect caught) and that it was ok to open our windows. It was scary and strange. In all my years of living in Brooklyn, we never had anything like this happen! To those of you who posted and expressed concern for us, thank you. Ame
Glad it all worked out ok.
That sounds really creepy.
Scarey!!! I'm glad you are all safe.
So glad you are all safe. I was really worried about you since then.
I am glad you are okay.
i had my friend stop by to pick something up and she said that i shouldnt go outside b/c it looks like they are having a manhunt down the street from me. i was like your kidding me and looked out the back sliding glass door and saw policemen walking around and search dogs. i dont know what came of it but as soon as my friend left i locked the doors and set the alarm, LOL i am always freaked out that someone will get into my house. but this was just saturday during the day.
I'm glad everything worked out but you would think they would have sent someone to tell you it was over so you didn't worry all night. We had a similar situation when I was a kid and I know how scary it was.
