Wet Jet poinsonous to cats?
I was at a seminar yesterday and I was telling the story of my cat's strange seizure and behavior (some of you may recall that saga, LOL). Anyway, one woman I was lunching with said oh, her cat had gotten terribly sick and had lay around like he was dying...the vet didn't know what was wrong...did all kinds of tests...turns out, the cat had licked the Swiffer Wet Jet stuff off his paws and gotten poisoned. Another woman at our table said yes, she'd read how there was an ingredient that tasted sweet--like antifreeze--and that it was very dangerous to cats. So! I don't know if our cat problem was related to Swiffer (which I use--or did use), but I thought I'd pass along what I heard. If anyone else knows anything more, I'd be very interested in hearing about it!
Interesting. We use the wet jet. And, we have a cat. We haven't had any problems, but I don't let the cat (or anyone else!) in the kitchen while the floor is still wet. It is a cleaning ingredient, which are commonly unhealthy for animals/people to consume. Just think...if the cat licked up some pinesol or some 409, he would probably have some sort of reaction too.
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp This is another one of the urban legends.... I only knew that because I remember cruising through snopes.com one night when bored and reading this one!!!
Really??? Oh no! And I am one that ALWAYS checks into the urban legends!!! LOL Thanks for setting the record straight, Crystal!
Don't sweat it Janet, it's not like you were passing on a bogus email, you got it "straight from the horses mouth". Don't you love how things get twisted and exaggerated?! Like that game we used to play as a kid... LOL
