Playstation 2 is broken :(

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2004: Playstation 2 is broken :(

Our console fell off the table and would not open after that. I called Sony and they want $103. to fix it :( What????
I am mad. I hate to not have one because of all the money we have tied up in the software. You would think they would fix their things for a cheaper price. Heck, I can buy a NEW for $149.

Just needed to vent! :)

So sorry it broke. Do you have any stores that sell used ones? We have a store called Pre Played and they sell games and systems for really cheap.

our playstation 2 broke also, we had the Best Buy warranty on it though, thank goodness! They just gave us a new one. Not only thta, but they gave us a giftcard for the difference in the price it was when we bought it & the price it was when we returned it.
We also have the used cd & video game places here. Also check with the local video stores that rent them, because sometimes they sell used ones for cheap, too!

Our first PS2 was broken and we were able to trade it in towards a new one. It was at a store called Electonic Boutique. Don't know if there is one near you, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyways.

Try e-bay or a pawn shop/second hand store...they may have one for a decent price.

Like stated above, try pawn shops. I bought my ex one the year they came out, and saved $100 of the $300 price tag by going to a pawn shop. As for the system you have now, look in your newspaper, people buy the broken ones, for parts or refurbishing. Or you may find someone to fix it for cheaper!!

I'd definitely check a pawn shop. They really do get a bad rap. Jen worked in one for months, and while there is a certain percentage of very seedy clientel that I wasn't crazy about her being around due to safety concerns, you can get GREAT bargains there - we actually got some jewelry for a steal, a boxed DVD set for $3.95, and I got my mom an almost new HP computer for $275!
