NEW MEMBERS - PLEASE READ RE: PROFILES AND PRIVACY
This was posted recently and it has become necessary to repost it due to the volume of new members. Also copied below is the Privacy Notice which is posted in RED on the Main page of the Momsview Discussion Board. Please read it and follow the guidelines to editing your profile.
IMPORTANT PRIVACY NOTICE: Your profile and posts at Momsview, as on most internet message boards, are viewable by the general public and can easily be found by performing an internet search. Please keep this in mind when posting, and once registered, be sure to "Edit Profile" and hide or edit anything you wish to make private in your profile, including your full name. Due to the size of our membership, it is not possible for MV staff to delete/edit profiles and posts. However, we do care about your privacy and are taking every step possible to keep you informed of your options. Questions may be addressed to Pam/Bubbels~Admin. Click "Contact" in left menu.
From time to time, Administration receives frantic emails from members who are concerned about their privacy when posting on Momsview. I will address each of these issues.
1) You MUST pay attention to everything you read when you apply and in the Posting Guidelines. Once you are approved for membership, you have the option of editing your profile so no information is available to track you. You can type XXXXXXX in the spaces so your personal information isn't shown, since due to the nature of the software, SOME fields are required to have something in them.
2) Momsview is in the search engines. When others do a keyword search, say, on Google, posts at Momsview will appear in the search result. We have posted repeated warnings to let everyone know that anything they post here is subject to being accessible on the internet. That's the way the internet works.
*IF* you are considering posting something that is somewhat personal to a thread, that you don't want anyone other than Momsview members to read, DON'T post it.
3) Momsview cannot be responsible for editing and removing the posts of every member who suddenly realizes their posts are cached in Google or another search engine. We currently have over 3000 members. Many of them do not post at all, or post very infrequently, but it is impossible for Administration and the Moderators to search back through what is literally thousands and thousands of posts to edit or remove messages posted by members.
4) Once you edit your profile and/or posts, it will take AT LEAST a week for them to NOT appear in Google's cache. Sometimes it's a week, sometimes it's longer.
Please know that we have made every effort to protect the privacy of our members, but due to the nature of the internet, it is impossible to provide 100% anonymity to everyone.
We hope that everyone will continue to post here and feel they are part of this special group of ladies (and men!). Just think carefully about what you post and what information you leave available in your profile.
