Mops - Have you found a Keeper?

I HATE mopping! I had the Envirosteamer - which worked wonderfully but it took very long to do a whole house (we have no carpet). I am just looking for something that is easy and quick. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I like the Wondermop and today I purchased the Clorox ready mop. It works good and it is so quick and easy. :)

Clorox Ready Mop gets my vote!! I love it for quick jobs, and I fill it with my own hardwood floor cleaner. I also use just the pad with Shinekeeper for my kitchen floor. Looks like I spent hours on it instead of 10 minutes.

I have a Swifter Wet Jet, or whatever it's called, and love it!!

I LOVE my Floormate! I use it every other day, I HATE when my floors are dirty. I have hardwood floors and it takes about 10 minutes to do the whole house. Love, love, love it!

I love my Swiffer Wet-Jet, but we can't add other things to the cleaning solution. Can you with the Clorox Mop? I'm spending a fortune on the solution bottles. I love the way they smell, though. What is a Floormate?

By Amecmom on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 10:24 pm:

With the Clorox mop, you wait until the bottle is empty and then refill it with whatever no rinse floor cleaner you prefer.
I have two. One for my hardwood floors that I use a special cleaner in, and a second for all the other floors that I use the clorox cleaner or Once n Done in.

Tink you can add your own cleaning solution to the swiffer also.
We just cut the plastic tab thingy that is under the cap , you can see it if you turn it up side down and look.
Then we cut it with a knife.
Now the cap screws on and off and we refill it with our own stuff.

My Envirosteamer broke!! (Nate may have been the culprit, but who knows!!) Anyway, I'm a big believer in hand mopping. Even the Envirosteamer pushed dirt around, no matter how much I swept. I know how military housing is, so this is kind of out of the question for you, but at least can be done for serious cleaning. I use the Wet-jet for quick clean ups, and do the tile floors by hand a couple times a week. I've had both the Wet-jet and the Ready mop, and I HATED the Ready mop. The Wet-jet was from Nate's bachelor days, but I love it!! And as far as hand mopping, a BIG timesaver I found was to use a car mitt... you know, like the one you wash your car with. I can do my kitchen, dining, and bathroom in 10 minutes like this. For you Wet-jet moms, try carrying a spray bottle of a no rinse cleaner, spraying the floor, and mopping. Rather than refilling the bottle, and possibly clogging the sprayer, I will just use a separate bottle. It's a bit more work, but it has it's advantages.

I'm a hand mopper too. It doesnt take that much longer and you do a better job. I'll be trying the car mitt idea.

I've never had a mop that I liked, or felt cleaned the floors.

I use old towels and hand mop or *walk* them around the floors, and then hand mop around baseboards.

It's definitely NOT easy on this old body, so if anyone's got any recommendations, I'd love to hear them too!

I am one of those weird people who still gets on her hands and knees to scrub. Call me sick but I am picky and even with my stupid sciatic pain its still the only way I do it!
