Strep Pneumonia
Has anyone ever had this? If so, how long did it take to recuperate? DH has it. He is an asthma sufferer, which doesn't help. I had him at the hospital Friday morning - they did an x-ray and took blood. Sent him home with antibiotics. He ran a high fever off and on all weekend. He was sick (throwing up) Friday night. Slept most of the time. And, being a stubborn person, went to work this morning. The Dr from the hospital called this morning with culture results and informed dh he has strep pneumonia. Poor guy. Not much I could do for him except keep the house quiet. I took ds to do errands and visited with the neighbours.
I would assume he has strep and pnemonia. We have had them both. Also my asthmatic son, sometimes when they get sick they just get really sick! It didn't take too long for him to be back to himself though, a couple of days tops.

My ds had this about a year and a half ago and he was in the hospital for 7 days. He just couldn't keep his O2 level up and was VERY dehydrated. He was only 3 at the time so dehydration is a bigger issue then. Lots of rest, fluids, and antibiotics until they are GONE. My dh is terrible about finishing these. If he feels better, he doesn't really need it anymore, right? Oh yeah, don't give cough meds. He needs to cough the stuff out, and if you are suppressing the cough, it'll just take that much longer to ger rid of it.
