By Janet on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 11:42 am:

I should be on Survivor now! We have earwig troubles in the spring, and they appear just about everywhere it's dark and damp. I hate the little beasts! Well, this morning, I was brushing my teeth, and felt something "not right" on my brush. I spit and there was a mangled earwig...I'd been brushing my teeth with it!! EWWWW!!! I'm STILL feeling queasy about it, even after rinsing, mouthwashing, etc... UGH!

By Karen~moderator on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 11:45 am:

UGH!!!!!!!!!! hurl

By Amecmom on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 11:48 am:

Thanks Janet - luckily there's nothing left of my breakfast to hurl ...

By Dana on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 02:12 pm:

Just brushing w/ a bug is gross, but I have no idea what an earwig is. Sorry you had to experience it.

By Emily7 on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 02:14 pm:

That is gross. I was just getting ready to eat left over rice..

By Children03 on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 02:37 pm:

By Janet on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 02:39 pm:

OK, maybe I shouldn't have posted this. Any administrators that want to delete it, you have my permission! LOL I forgot there are lots of pregger mommies reading (but I DID say it was a gross post, so it's your own faults!) If it happens again, I promise I won't tell you. :)

By Karen~moderator on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 05:24 pm:

LOL Janet! I don't see that it needs to be deleted. It WAS funny, although pretty gross. And your title of your post gives fair warning, KWIM?

By Amy~moderator on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 05:48 pm:

Grooooooooosssssssssssssss!!! I will be thoroughly inspecting my toothbrush before I begin brushing! BTW, we have problems with earwigs in our house too. I never knew what they were called until now though.

By Dana on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 06:04 pm:

EWWWWWWWWWWW, that photo brought new meaning to your post. That is really so gross. Now I know what it is. I have seen them often. We just called them "pincher bugs"

Does anyone know if they serve a purpose?

By Sue3 on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 06:28 pm:

no , they do not serve a purpose.
It reminded me that I have to put some poison out today because they are eating my flowers.
Even the marigolds !
They are really bad this year because we have had so much rain.
They lay eggs in the soil and the females are very protective over the nest and the babies.
That is the only part of them that I think is "cute" so to speak.
Sorry you shared your tooth brush with one Janet.
My DS would have thought that was so cool.

By Renee on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 07:05 pm:

I agree with Dana... it did bring new meaning to the post. Gross!

By Amy~moderator on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 08:54 pm:

Dana - we call them pincher bugs, too!

By Marcia on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 10:42 pm:

Way too funny!!!
We normally have ear wigs, but I haven't seen any yet this year. It's not quite summer yet, so there's still time!

By Cheekymama on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 04:08 am:

OMG! That is so gross, yet so funny!
