DD is leaving tonight...waaaah!
OK, now it's out of my system. My 14 yr old dd is leaving for a 6-day trip to D.C. with a school group...first time she's gone w/o being at camp or with family. It's a bus trip, and I'm nervous. I'm saying my prayers and reminding myself that she's in good hands! But I'll miss her sooo much!
I remeber my first long distance trip for school. We left at 5a.m. & were back that night at 11. We went to Cody, WY. It was so much fun. We got into trouble for singing 2 Live Crew songs. 1 & 1 were having some fun.... I bet she is having fun, I would love to go to DC.
I know exactly how you feel Janet. My 15 year old went to Florida back in april for 8 days and I was a nervous wreck. I knew she was in the safest hands she could be in because she went with a Campus Life group and my DB works for this group. He and my DSIL and niece were already there(they flew) and would be there with her the whole time while she was there but, I still worried about the bus ride there and back. I have to say I did do a lot of praying that whole week she was gone and she called me almost everyday(her choice not mine)so it did help me not worry so much.
Oh my goodness! My girls- both 15 just flew back to Bama last night after 10 days in- Washington- NY and Canada. They loved it! How they matured. Also- they made the today show last Tuesday. How your daughter has a blast! I was so glad to see mine though.
I bet she will have a great time! My baby (12) is going to confirmation camp in a few weeks. She will be gone from Sunday to Friday. She is going with her best friend, who also goes to our church, so I know she will be fine. Sarah had a great time when she went 3 years ago. It will be the longest time that Emily and I have ever been apart and Emily's longest time away from home! This is the kid who always cried a little on the first day of school and didn't always want me to leave! She got better about this by 4th grade, though. She is much more confident now!

She's called me twice now to tell me she misses me (*sigh*) and that she's doing OK. I think they are too busy for her to be too miserable! Funny how little she tells me on the phone..I'm sure it'll all come out later, when she's home. She wanted to talk to the cat last night! LOL I am still feeling empty, but not so much, now that they're mostly doing short tours. I'll be nervous again when they get back on the bus to drive home (14 hours). Thanks for the cyber-hugs!
