OTC drugs allowed during pregnancy?.....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2004: OTC drugs allowed during pregnancy?.....

First, I know you guys are not my dr so I'm not looking at your answers as absolute truths.

But I can't remember which OTC is the one you can have for headache. Tylenol? Also, what I really have is a sinus headache. Is there anything you can take for sinus headche?

TIA

Tylenol is ok throughout - Tylenol Sinus is OK. Sudafed is also OK and so is Benadryl.
You can take Motrin safely in the second trimester. Third is out, and first is iffy.
Also, you can try a hot washcloth over your face for a few minutes.
Hope you feel better.
Ame (Who is going through this, too)

Oh, thanks, Ame! You made my night knowing I can take Tylenol Sinus! I sure hope I have some in the counter.

I've not been keeping up w/ how far along all the new moms are. I just know there are many here :)

What week are you?

By Amecmom on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 05:28 pm:

In week 25, I think. I just started my third trimester (Yikes!) When I was pregnant with my son, it seemed to last a year ... this one has flown by!

I've been sticking to a very high protein, mod carb, low fat diet and have finally started showing! I think that must have something to do with it. I hope I can stick with it so that I'm not huge by the time I deliver in September.

Ame, thanks again! I am feeling so much better having taken the sinus meds. I was dying w/ that headache. So much better now. I'm just getting over a nasty cold from last week and my sinuses just started killing me today.

Once that baby starts growing in the last trimester, even the smallest of women get big. With DD I looked like I was walking around w/ a bowling ball in my tummy, LOL. The rest of me stayed as skinny as ever, until 3 months after delivery. That's when I gained my weight.

Glad you're feeling better. Sinus trouble is the worst, and it always seems to get worse when you're pg.
I'm also glad to hear about someone who did not have tremendous weight gain during pregnancy and went on to deliver a healthy baby.
I'd gained only 8 pounds as of my last OB visit (23 weeks) and they were concerned trying to get me to eat more. Then they did an US and found the baby's growth to be on target. So then they gave me the go ahead to keep with my current program.
Stay well,
Ame

Well, I did gain weight w/ DD. I started out at only 105 and was a full 130 at delivery. So I gained appropriately. But I still looked like there was a bowling ball in me :)
