We are taking a little family vacation to Destin Florida. Just wondering if anyone has been there and if there is a hotel or anything else you could recommend for a family of 5. (kids are 5,2 and 5 months). Just wanting to get the most out of our trip. We are driving from Houston, TX!!Thanks!

We were in Destin a few years ago...absolutely beautiful! We stayed in a condo, though I can't remember the name off-hand. I liked the condo, since you have a kitchen, living room, etc. There are tons right on the beach. I believe we went through a travel agent. You'll love it! It is a very relaxing place.

I have been but I don't remember where we stayed either, but it is a nice place for vacation. You will have a lot of fun. Have you tried searching on the web for hotels or condos? That is how I always find a place to stay.

We just went about a month ago--beautiful and worth the money spent going! We stayed in a condo for a week--Silver Dunes. They have a website where you can actually look at the units on the inside and see what each one looks like (for specific units). I am sure there are alot of nice hotels also, but the condo (although more expensive maybe) has more room for kids to play around. This was a two bedroom; we went with another couple that had three kids and we have a one year old. It was right on the beach and great! Enjoy your trip. By the way, if you are a seafood lover there is a fish market in Pensacola called Joe Patty's that is great. It was recommended to us to go there and buy fresh seafood; we did and went back to the condo and cooked. It is supposed to be cheaper.

We stay in Sandpiper Cove condo's. They have a website as well if you want to look it up.

I used to live in Fort Walton Beach.
Destin is very nice. They have a very nice
boat ride you can take. The beaches are so pretty. The water is Emerald Blue.

Thank you all so much! I do research on the web for hotels, condo's, etc, but it is always nice to hear from other moms as to what is most fitting for a family with children. Any websites you could suggest would be wonderful. We want to stay right on the beach. We were thinking that Fort Walton Beach might be a little cheaper than Destin. Is it? Also, does anyone know if the beaches in Alabama are as nice? Thanks for the input.

We have gone to Gulf Shores, AL and it is nice. We stayed at two different places there. The most recent place we stayed at was a condo called "Admiral Quarters" It was soooooooo nice. I recommend going to Gulf Shores it is a nice family place.

Gulf Shores is less of a drive for us. How would you compare it to the Destin/Fort Waldon area? Do you have a website for the place you stayed in Gulf Shores? I just wonder if the water there is as nice as Destin? Thanks!
