Home and doing well

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2004: Home and doing well
By Eve on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 - 09:12 pm:

Eve's DH here, just letting you all know that she is home and resting. Everything went okay. The staff that assisted her was wonderful. Although, going a whole day without food or water was not so easy.(we would not advise a 3pm surgery if you can help it) She woke up and was talking about french fries...

No, Jackie. I wish they did! I'm taking just 600 mg of Motrin. I had pretty severe pain in the recovery room and they gave me more Fentanyl (LOVE that stuff!) and Zofran for nausea. On a happy note, this is the first day in months that I have not had a borderline migraine and nausea. So, I feel blah in my pelvic area, but so much better everywhere else.:)

Bless those of you who have done this more than once. It's a very cruddy process!

By Jackie on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 08:47 am:

Wow Eve, Im so shocked they gave you no RX for pain medicine to take home.. I got an RX both times, but never needed it.. For some reasons I had no cramping with the 2 dnc's I had..But on the other hand, I got nothing for my nausea..hmm each hospital does it differently I see.

Take it easy today, and rest when you can.. I know kind of hard when there is a little one underfoot.

{{{{{{{{{{Eve}}}}}}}}}

I'm glad you're feeling better now. Take care of you.

By Kernkate on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 09:14 am:

{{{Eve}}} Glad you are feeling a little better today. Take a day of bed rest. I know its hard with a 3 year old.
Thoughts are with you.

By Texannie on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 10:00 am:

Don't be afraid to call your doc and ask for an RX if you need it. Take care of yourself. Don't try to do too much too soon!

By Debbie on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 10:53 am:

{{{{Eve}}}} So sorry you are having cramping. I had a DNC and had bad cramps the first day. After the first day I was feeling much better. Just stay in bed and get plenty of rest today. I will be thinking of you!

By Emily7 on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 11:19 am:

They gave me meds as well. I just stayed in bed for the first day and did very little the next.

By Nicosmom on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 12:56 pm:

Glad to hear that everything went well Eve! How about some chocolate?! That's popular around here right now. :)

By Trina~moderator on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 12:59 pm:

{{{Eve}}} Hang in there and milk this excuse for resting! LOL!

After both c-sections they sent me home with 600 mg Motrin. I didn't want anything else because pain killers tend to make me SICK.

By Sunny on Thursday, June 10, 2004 - 02:23 pm:

I hope you start to feel better soon. I had a D and C once, and that was one time too many.

(((hugs)))

I am glad you are okay and doing well. I am so sorry you had to go through all of this.

By Eve on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 10:05 am:

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling like a board hog. :(

I'm feeling better today. My head is clear and my energy level is up. I have a TERRIBLE bruise on my arm from the IV that hurts. I woke up with bad cramps, but Advil helped. So, I'm up and catching up on some light housework. Which, feels great to be up and around with no nausea! I have some sad moments, but all and all, I'm doing MUCH better! Thanks for asking.:)

By Emily7 on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 10:07 am:

I am glad you are feeling better.

By Tink on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 11:58 am:

Glad to hear that today is going well. Don't do too much and don't worry about board-hogging. We want to know that you are OK.

By Colette on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 01:04 pm:

So glad you are up and feeling better.

By Kay on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 02:43 pm:

I'm kind of late to put in my hugs here, but I certainly have been thinking about you! :)

By Andi on Friday, June 11, 2004 - 02:43 pm:

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Take care of yourself!

{{{Eve}}}

I've been through two miscarriages, the second one was like yours - spotting and no heartbeat on the ultrasound. I had a D&C on December 13th, 1994. It took us several years of trying to conceive that child, after having already had Christopher and Megan. So I didn't worry about birth control (they tell you to wait a few months before trying again....) After that D&C and a somewhat melancholy Christmas season......my periods didn't return because I was pregnant with Justin :) He was born in November of '95. Since I was nursing him and we had had fertility issues before, I wasn't too worried about birth control then either. When Justin was a little over 6 months old, I started to feel really tired and queasy. Matthew was on his way! I'm sharing this with you to demonstrate that you just never know what the future will bring! I know right now you are sad, and that pain is indescribable...but you never know what God's plan is because we just can't see that far ahead. I'm glad you are home and starting to recover. It's a long process, but when you do have another little one in your arms, you will know that your life wouldn't be the same without him/her. I loved the two little souls we lost, but looking at my family now, I wouldn't change a thing.
Sorry to go on and on - I just wanted to let you know that things change with time.
Take care of yourself, and keep us posted.

Glad you're doing better, Eve!! {{{HUGS}}}
