Baby rabbit question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Baby rabbit question
By Echo on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 05:15 pm:

I don't know if anyone knows, and this is truly just to satisfy my curiosity, but does anyone know what happens to wild baby rabbits when it rains?
My dog recently found a nest of about 6 of them, still with their eyes closed. He didn't hurt any and they seemed healty enough so I just covered them back up the best I could and let them be. About 20 min later it started downpouring pretty hard and I couldn't help wondering if I hadn't put all the stuff back over them well enough. Won't they be soaked?

I don't really want to disturb them again, but I'm worried they'll drown or something.

Just found some baby rabbits running around our yard. Let me just say how CUTE they are!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, not sure what happens, but I believe the mother will or should protect them. I still see the mother running around here and she "cleans" them.

The mom stays with them for a long time. I bet she was some where near. I am sure she will take care of what needs to be taken care of.

And we have bunnys all over the place here. Can't go out with out seeing at least one.
