Just so excited I had to tell someone! (a bit of "prayeful" comments in post).....

A long time ago now, we had our lawn jockey stolen from our front yard. That thing weighs a TON! We never even considered it being taken due to the weight. Something about it was just really special to DH and I. It came with the house when he bought it. He had recently painted the little man before it was stolen. I went ahead and reported it to cops. DH thought I was foolish for doing this.

I said prayers for "our little man" to be returned to us. It has been so long, I can't even remember when it was stolen. But each time I see photos of our house, or drive past another house with a little man, I say a quick prayer with a thought "I know this probably won't make a difference, but God please send our lawn jockey back home" I have in the back of my mind how silly I am to still think about it or pray about it. I think in the back of my mind that the most unthinkable things can happen thru God....but wonder how my concerns for our little man really matter.

Well, today I got a notice in the mail saying we had some property at the sheriffs dept. I called holding my breath. IT WAS THE LAWN JOCKEY! I can not wait to get him. DH was so upset when it was stolen. I'm going to surprise him with it tonight when he gets home. I'd love to have it in the yard, but it is too heavy for me to lift. So DH will just have to look in my trunk to find the surprise. I might even have the camera ready to get the look on his face. I CAN"T BELIEVE THEY FOUND IT! What are the chances????

Thats amazing. You must be thrilled. I would be too. I do believe in the power of prayer!
I bet you can't wait for your husband to see this.

We recently had a town clean-up day and someone had put a lawn jockey out by the curb! I wanted to stop and get it, but was late for work (and I HATE picking through other people's throwaways), so I'll never know if someone else got it or it's in a landfill. Funny how someone will pay $$ for something someone else puts in the trash!

That is a cute story. I am glad you got it back.

It always shocks me at Christmas time the # of lights & lawn ornamets that get stollen.

Sue, don't feel silly. I just recently found out what a lawn jockey was. I just didn't know those things people put on their lawn were called Lawn Jockeys!!

I'm glad you got it back, Dana! That's amazing! I wonder how and where they found it! You just never know what the power of prayer will do for you!

By Melanie on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 04:40 pm:

I can't believe he's home!!!! I think I remember you posting about this so long ago! Be sure to post back and tell us about your dh's reaction! :)

By Trina~moderator on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 04:53 pm:

Wow! Did they tell you where they found it?!

By Dana on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 08:00 pm:

The little man is still at the sheriff dept :(. When I got there (and they are open 24/7) the guy says "are you coming to claim something?" He then told me 10 minutes prior the computer system went down. Without it, they are unable to locate my item. That was at 3:30p. I just called and no computer still :(

I'm heading out of town in the morning and not returning til Mon evening, so we might have to wait til then to surprise DH.

Now on the funny side of things, DD keeps telling EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE "we get to go to the jail and pick up our little man!" Can you imagine the looks we get? I then really need to explain what she is refering to LOL.

Just did a search for original post since Melanie had recall of something about it. I wasn't sure I posted back then. Anyway, I posted on June 3, 2003! So almost a year ago it was stolen!!!

By Tink on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 08:27 pm:

That is so great!! Like you said, what are the chances? Will you tell DH about it or wait until you can pick it up? Oh wait, DD probably won't keep quiet all weekend if she's already telling strangers. :) Congrats on the return of your "little man!"

I remember when he was taken too. Glad he will be back in his proper spot. Wonder how on earth they found him almost a year later. Bet DH will be happy too...

ahhh, I am glad you got your little man back for your yard. I think I would be upset too if someone stole something from my yard. Glad you got it back though, he is cute!

He's been sitting in our yard since last Monday (not memorial Monday). He had a busted arm, the one that holds the light and a medium chip in the base. I was so sad to see him mangeled, that I figured DH would not react excitedly when he saw "the little man."

I had returned from our weekend trip to my dads and told DH there was something in the trunk to heavy for me to carry. He opened it, stood for a second and then GASPED in air. Stood there some more in disbelief and said "WHERE did you get this???" I wish now I had gone ahead and gotten my camera ready. He was so over joyed! We lifted him together it it's original spot. DH bent his arm back into place and he looks only a bit worse for the wear.

DH is so happy. He just can't believe it. I told him it was my prayers that brought him home. He was shocked I was even praying about it to begin with and more shocked that I was STILL praying about it when we got the notice. It feels so good to see DH happy with the find.

Thank you for sharing his response with us! I love that he was as happy as you were to see him come home. Glad he wasn't too bad off. :)
