Unusual sickness

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Unusual sickness

I am on a low-carb diet for the past 5 days (yippee) but for some reason since the 15th of this month i.e. for the past 3 days i feel sick between 2pm and 4pm. Its really bad sick, i even puked the first day. Its not like i am not eating, but just at that time which is my lunch time I get sick. At first I thought it was due to Ov, cuz the 15th may (26 day cycle) was my date. But I did a test and it was –ve. Also when I am sick, I cant even think about the lunch I just had. I am fine after that… like it never happened. Could it be because of the diet?

I'd suggest you post on the Let's Get Fit board to discuss diets.

Are you losing weight very quickly?

If you are losing more than 1/2 lb (0.2 kg) per day you're losing minerals (like Potassium and Calcium) too quickly for your body to adjust.

It normally takes about 2 weeks for your body to become accustomed to burning mostly fat (your own) for energy. Some people have low blood sugar symptoms(headaches etc.) during this period and need to decrease their carb intake at a more gradual rate.

Increase your carb(and food) intake temporarily, to slow your weight loss, until your body adjusts. Do this by adding more vegetables, fruit and things like whole milk to your meals.

We got sick when we first went on the low carb diet. Eat some carbs like banana and lay down and you will feel better.
