PCOS and TTC

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: PCOS and TTC

I was only recently diagnosed with PCOS (when ttc). I have always had regula AFs so no eason to suspect anything. Its been 12 mths and i have had no positive HPTs! :( I have been on clomid for 2 cycles and missed the 3rd since my doc was out of town. In my last cycle, i had sharp lower abdominal pain on my O-day and i think it was cuz of ovu. Emily suggested i used a glass thermometre and chart my temp every morning. Can i use a regular home thermometre for this?

Did you try the ovulation kits? They are so easy. Amazon has them for a dollar. You really only use about 4 test if you have a 28 day cycle. The clomin should make you ovulate like clock work every month.

I buy the CVS ovulation kits. I get 7 test for about 11 bucks. Last about 2 cycles.

The doctor told me to get ovulation kits. You have sex the evening the test say you ovulate and the next night. Don't waste the sperm before you ovulate. Like for 4 days don't have sex before you ovulate.

I got so much wrong information. You think at my age I would know this stuff. They should teach this in school it is complicated.

The thing is I know how horrible the clomin is so you want to get pregant and off the clomin.

The sperm gets thined out if you have sex every night from day 10-18.

Don't for get that 50% of problems are from men! You could be taking the clomid for a year( mild torture) and it could be because of the mans sperm.

thanks a ton feona! my dh has had his sperm tested and we know he's fine. I have been lucky not to have too many terrible side effects from clomid in the two cycles i took it. Also i have ordered the ov kits. Thanks again. do you have children?

Don't forget to have the tubes tested if the doctor says to.

Yes, I have one boy. Took us 7 years to get him and he was worth the wait!

Have you changed to a low sugar/good carb diet? That really helps with PCOS. You want a basal thermometer because they go lower and are easier to read. A digital works well too.
