Big heart but....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Big heart but....
By Momaroze on Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 10:52 am:

My dh came home with a box of strawberry plants for mother's day. I don't really care for fresh cut flowers because they just die off. He said since I didn't like fresh cut flowers he thought I might like some (a ton) of strawberry plants LOL. His heart was/is in the right place....but strawberry plants. Of course I was very appreciative about them, and really do like strawberry plants. My point is he has never been a very, let's say, know how to shop for a woman kind of guy Ha-Ha! Now I have to start a strawberry patch somewhere. I guess this is the kind of gift that keeps on giving LOL.

Maybe one day I will get that family ring. LOL

Of course, I'm just kidding, even if he did'nt buy me a thing and just a card I would have been happy!

Maybe you can get him to plant the strawberry patch for you as part of your present? It was a nice thought. Just think of all the juicy strawberries you'll have.
Some guys just don't know how to pick out a woman's gift ...

Now that WOULD make a nice well rounded gift after all. It is true, some guys don't know how to buy gifts, he seems to be one of them. Although, before we were married he bought me the nicest gifts for Christmas and birthdays. Beautiful watch, necklace, microwave oven (I don't think that counts) maybe this is when he began to slip, in the woman buying department! LOL :)

Gotta love'm though!

Hey, I forgot about him telling me to take the day off and go out for the day (without kds). Believe me, that is the greatest gift of all!! LOL

Aren't we suppose to slave drive the dh's and kds on this day though? Maybe it is in his best interest to have me gone! LOL Oh I'm in a silly but great mood today.

Happy Mothers day to everyone wonderful mom out there!

Hey, at least he took the initiative and went out on his own to get you a Mother's Day gift!

By Momaroze on Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 11:20 am:

Yep Trina, bottom line, so true!

By Bellajoe on Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 01:34 pm:

I agree Trina! I probably won't get any gifts, his reasoning is that I just had a birthday. (rolling my eyes) I will probably get pancakes for breakfast, but that isn't anything special because we always have pancakes on Saturday or Sunday mornings.

My gifts were two absolutely adorable preschool Mother's Day parties. One at my ds's school and one at my dd's school.

DH doesn't buy me gifts. I buy what I need as I need it. So I would be happy with Strawberry plants.

LOL Patti.....I know how the birthday thing is. I had a birthday on Thursday, and with Mothers day being tomorrow they just kind of run together. DH did take the girls out shopping today for *something*. They insisted that they had to get me a gift. (ahhhh:)) Guess I'll find out tomorrow!

I got to buy 2 boxes of plants from the church plant sale. They are better than cut flowers, since I will get to enjoy them until fall!

Red Geramiums, spikes and vincas for the planter under the picture window, alyssum for both sides of my back door porch, impatiens for the north side of my garage, and a New Guinea impatiens for the southeast corner of my house. We will be busy planting soon!

Well i got a card from my dh that is for mother in laws!! My dd is only 9! And his gift was paper for my printer! So just be thankful you got plants!

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, May 9, 2004 - 07:46 am:

I'm guessing you got ordinary printer paper. Card stock printer paper would be a treat, though.

I agree with Trina. It is great that he took the initiative and got you something. I have to drop hints to dh for a few weeks, or he will just come ot and ask me what I want.

Thing with strawberries is you have to cover them with something else the animals eat all the strawberries before you can pick them. We have them and I think I have eatten one in 4 years. The animals are very fat though.
