My washing machine died.........UGH!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: My washing machine died.........UGH!
By Karen~moderator on Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 08:41 am:

I have a house FULL of dirty laundry, including 2 loads of towels and 2 loads of sheets!

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just finished *trying* to wring out a load of clothes by hand.........soapy water, mind you, it couldn't even cooperate enough to make it to the rinse cycle.

I guess I will be spending Mother's Day doing laundry at my moms. :-(

My washer is only 3 or 4 years old! GRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry about your washer - my washer & dryer both went last year (they were 18 years old) - I must say I tried the laundramat and it wasn't so bad -you can really fit alot of clothes into those washers & dryers.

Oh no Karen!! Out of all of my appliances that's the one I don't want to break. Hope it's just a minor repair and it's fixed soon.

That really rots, Karen. When my dryer went (it was really old - original to the house ) It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We went to sears and got their front loader set on sale. I love them! Now my son, loves to help with the laundry, because he can actually reach the items in the washer and put them in the dryer for me.
Hope you resolve the washer problem soon. In the meantime, use it as an excuse not to do laundry ...
Ame

Oh no! {{{Karen}}} Sears has a repair service where they come to your house to fix appliances. Not cheap but certainly less expensive than getting a new washer. If yours is only 4 yrs. old it's worth looking into.

Amecmom, we got the Kenmore front loader set on sale last year, too! LOVE IT!!

Imagine what the woman went through before the invention of the washing machine. I can handle my drier kicking on me, but not the washing machine. oh my not the dishwasher either! Especially when these appliances are fairly new! Ugh

(((Karen)))
That is one of the hardest appliances to be without. Hope you are able to get it fixed soon.

I used to use a repair guy for the old washer and dryer and dumb me, I threw the number out when we got the new ones! I looked in the phone book, but there's no listing for him. My friend gave me the 800# for Sears repair service.

On the upside, I kept trying to rerun the cycles and have managed to get one load of clothes done and am attempting another. *IF* it will let me get some laundry done today, I'll be happy!!!!! Then on Monday I can arrange for someone to come fix it.

Karen, my washer did the same thing and it would work every 3rd or 4th time. It was only a slipped belt and was super cheap to have fixed. I hope you are as lucky. If not, laundry at Mom's isn't as bad as the Laundromat, IMO.

By Coopaveryben on Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 05:48 pm:

I would just load it up and go to the laundry mat, I do it when I get backed up and I can usually knock it out in about 2 hours.

{{{Karen}}}} Don't things just happen at the worst time??? With my week, I definitely know how frustrating things like this can be. Hang in there.

i had my dryer die on me yesterday, i had to wait till my husband got home from work to go to lowes and get a new one, it isnt hooked up yet he is doing that tonight so fun time with laundry for me!

By Karen~moderator on Sunday, May 9, 2004 - 11:25 am:

No laundramats anywhere near me. I have found that if I keep running the cycle (like 4 or 5 times for a load!) it will eventually drain and spin. And it seems that once that happens the next load works a little easier. I'm spending my Mother's Day morning trying to finish laundry, and will call a repair person in the AM.

By Coopaveryben on Sunday, May 9, 2004 - 04:27 pm:

Just a thought, I have long hair and it is always shedding. My washing machine stopped draining all the water and when I would go to get the clothes out they were dripping wet. I was so frustrated because it was a new washer but it turned out it was a clog (hair) in the drain, my father-in-law fixed it in a few minutes.

By Bea on Sunday, May 9, 2004 - 05:04 pm:

Oh Karen...What a rotten way to spend Mother's Day. I wish I could kick your washer just the perfect way to get it working again. SORRY!!!!!!

How's the laundry situation, Karen? I'll send you my washer but I need it back tonight, K? :)

By Karen~moderator on Monday, May 10, 2004 - 02:11 pm:

LOL Tink!

I have someone lined up to come late Tuesday afternoon. I can hold off until then, I hope!

By Bobbie on Monday, May 10, 2004 - 11:24 pm:

Hope the repair is easy and not to much $$$. Fingers crossed.....
