Am I wrong on this?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Am I wrong on this?
By Misty on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 - 07:43 pm:

My two sons are getting over a stomach virus. While outside for a few minutes my neighbor's kid was asking DS #1 to come and play. While talking to the mom, she told me that her son has come down with croup. Then she turned to my son and asked him if he wanted to go play at thier house. I right away reminded DS that he wanted to do some chores to earn some money.

I just think that knowing that my kids are just getting over a bug and knowing that her own child is sick, it was inappropriate to ask my child over. Am I wrong?

No I dont think that your wrong b/c when my child is getting over being sick or even if she isnt sick at all and she wants to go play with the neighbor kid and he is sick i wont let her go play...just like my neighbor wont let rayanne come over there if she is sick. so no i think what you did was fine by not letting them go, having sick kids is a mess and to be sick then better then sick again is to much!!!

I don't think your wrong at all!! Actually, I wouldn't want someone just getting over a stomach virus to play with my child for a day or two anyway. Add into that the fact that her child has croup and it would be a bigger no thanks for me!! I do know some people are a whole lot more loose on things like that than I am though. I don't get it!!

I don't think you are in the wrong at all!! About 2 years ago at my daughter's friends birthday party another child was there that had a suspicious looking rash on her face......the mother later told us that it was impetigo!!! I couldn't believe that she would bring her child to a birthday party with such an infectious condition. It made me really angry that she would have the nerve to do that.....but it just reinforced the fact that their are alot of people in this world lacking common sense.

Goodness no! My DS will catch the croup if he gets close to anyone with it and he usually ends up in the ER with it. The croup is a serious thing for some kids.

Some people don't think (I place myself in this catagory at times too).

I have been told I protect my dk to much, that they should be exposed to certain things. I say if you want to pay the hospital bills & take care of them expose. I hate it when people bring over their sick kids, saying oh its just allergies. Then why do mine end up sick!
