Yesterday my vacuum, today my garage door

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Yesterday my vacuum, today my garage door
By Debbie on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 - 01:38 pm:

I guess I just need to vent. I don't think anything else can go wrong. Yesterday, I shredded the cord on the vacuum. Today, when I took ds to school, the garage door made a loud noise and then wouldn't open anymore. It looks like the spring broke. Of course, all of this happens when dh is out of town for the week. Also, this weekend, I noticed that the ring my Grandmother gave me when I got married is missing out of my jewelry drawer. It is a family heirloom that has been passed down since the early 1900's. I have looked everywhere and can't find it. I have a feeling my 3 yr. old is the culprit. However, I blame myself for not putting it in a safer place. I am just devastated and trying to get used to the fact that we may never find it.

Soooo, I am sitting here sulking as I wait for the garage door repair man. Calgon take me away!!!!!

{{{Debbie}}} I am sorry for your bad week.

{{{{{{{{Debbie}}}}}}}}}} I'm sorry. :-(

I also just discovered recently that a similar ring of mine which had been in my dad's family for decades is missing. His great aunt gave it to me on my 16th birthday. That was almost 33 years ago. I was planning on giving it to Jen. Now, suddenly it's gone and I TOTALLY understand how you are feeling. :-(

((((((HUGS)))))))))

What a terrible week. My dad used to travel for two months at a time when I was a kid. Mom says everything always went wrong while he was away. I will keep my fingers crossed you find that ring.

Debbie-know how ya feel! My Dh is in Brazil for 3 weeks and a week after he gets back-we move into our first home that we bought! That leaves me with packing, change of address stuff, dealing with lawyers and such, caring for our 3 year old-plus I am 33 weeks pregnant!!

Stuff always goes wrong when they are gone!

Re: the ring.....for some reason I often have good luck finding things for people...have you checked in a dresser drawer along the edges under the clothes?? Maybe-just maybe it will be there!

Hope it is.....

i hope things get better for you. i know exactly how you feel. my dishwasher and washing machine have decided to go on strike at the same time. they're both leaking water and my garbage disposal decided to quit. go figure, i had some pretty nasty dishes soaking before i found this out. YUCK!!

By Debbie on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 - 07:36 pm:

Fiona, I took everything out of the dresser and it wasn't there. I have searched every room in the house. I am trying not to give up hope. A few years ago I lost a necklace that my parents gave me. I found it on a back shelf of our pantry a few months later. I am sure my ds put it there.

At least I got some good news. Dh called a little while ago and he wasn't suppose to be home until midnight Friday, but they are letting them go a day early. He will be home around 8pm tomorrow night. They have a mediator for the strike negotiations and things look really good. I am so hoping they settle. We will find out Friday morning.
