I am such a sap
Just attempted to clean out my "storage" closet and found bags and boxes of old toys and clothes...so instead of getting rid of the stuff, I sat around on the floor w/my memories and a big lump in my throat and re-boxed everything and put it back in the closet... Now, I want to go take the kids out of school and spend the day with them. sigh....
Aw... Tell ya what. Just think of the kids, all home from school, running around like wild children, yelling, fighting, spilling things and making a big mess. Cured yet??? Yep, you're a sap.
{{Colette}}, I do that sort of thing all the time ! That`s probally why I have no storage space left and my house is a mess !!! Lol
I'm such a hard-hearted person! I don't do this at all. I hate stuff and will toss something as soon as I think I can. Bad mommy! (me, not you.)
I'm like Colette. I save EVERYTHING. I've got boxes and boxes of c-rap (and that's what a lot of it is! LOL). I have so many pictures and construction paper thingies, clothes, toys, books, etc. I just can't part with it.
Now that everything is re-packed take it down to you local shelter & donate it. Think of all the fond memories you & your children had with it, then think of the memories it will bring an under priviledged family....
I'm right there with you. It takes me YEARS to get rid of my kids baby clothes. Even still I have box after box of clothes that I can't part with. They are so tiny and soft and sweet. Makes me want my babies back. DH can't see the beauty of it....I sometimes pull them out and oooo and ahhhh over them and he's just like "yeah......whatever" LOL It's a girl thing
I'm right there with you girls! Just yesterday DH told me I HAD to go through Kaitlyns boxes of clothes in the closet and sell some things on ebay. I kept some of the silliest stuff like her onesie with spit up stains because it was one of the first outfits she wore, her first headpiece and just lame things. But I seriously cant bare to part with them. The onlythings I ended up selling were outfits she never had the chance to wear.
I decided to keep them. They are just to sentimental to me, dh thinks I am nuts I am sure. I did get rid of 3 lawn and leaf bags of stuff that I never liked or they never wore. I think I am going to go out and buy another hope chest to put them in (I already have one that barely shuts).
Tink, I'm with you...I don't save anything. I do have one box for each kid that I'll throw a school project or something in once in a GREAT while, but otherwise, I throw everything out. I hate clutter. There are absolutely no baby clothes in my house whatsoever! I can remember things through pictures. P.S. I don't think it means we're hard-hearted...just practical!
I had tons of baby clothes, and it took me years to go through them. I saved a large garbage can full, and gave the rest away. With what I kept, I could have another baby girl and still be fine for clothes! I save lots of artwork and school work, too. I'm just now trying to get through tons of toys for an upcoming garage sale. I've been trying to do this for a couple of years.
I have one little box with Eliah's name on it. I saved only the really cute or cool outfits so that I can give them to him when he gets older and has a baby. When all my friends were getting pregnant-their parents were giving them all these really cool baby clothes that belonged to them when they were babies. Now it is all retro stuff from the 60s and 70s. I was so jealous because my mom never saved anything from when I was a baby. So I will make sure my kids each have 1 box of neat baby stuff. fiona
