Spent the day at the ER.....
with a close friend. She called me this morning and was in terrible pain. Her DH was in Baton Rouge with her youngest DD for a basketball tournament. I brought her and stayed with her, she had blood tests and CAT scans before they would finally give her anything for the pain. She possibly has diverticulitis and has to go for endoscopy and colonoscopy.... That pretty much shot my day off with DH, but there was no way I was going to NOT help her out!
Seems to me you are spending a lot of time around hospitals and doctors lately, Karen. Please, take care of yourself too. Hope things go well for your friend.
Oh, what a day, Karen! You are a good friend!
Those tests are not fun. I will keep her in my thoughts. You are a good friend to stay with her.
Yea, Ginny, I know. LOL She's my closest friend other than Pam, and she's always been there for me, including taking me to and from the hospital on more than one occasion. She also volunteered to go see my mom when my mom was in the hospital after her diagnosis 2 years ago, and I couldn't get any straight answers - she was a hospice nurse at the time and had tons of information that proved useful. As for being a good friend, we all have friends we'd do the same for, right? Who was it that said everyone needs someone they can call @ 3:00 AM if they need them? I guess I'm lucky, I've got more than one of those. Emily7, don't I know about those tests!!! LOL The prep for a colonoscopy is NOT fun!
Oh, and BTW, the day wasn't a total wash. When I got home, we went to get our new cookware at Bed, Bath & Beyond as we had originally planned. They had a Calphalon set on sale and we desperately needed new pots and pans, etc. We were lucky, we got the last set they had, plus a $50 gift card for buying it, PLUS a mail-in certificate for a free Calphalon roasting pan, so all in all, not a bad deal! And my friend is doing better tonight. I had dropped off her prescriptions at the pharmacy after I brought her home and her DH picked them up on his way home from Baton Rouge. She's pretty sleepy from all the stuff she ended up getting at the ER, so we only talked for a minute, but at least I know she'll be OK.
Hope everything turns out okay for your DF. Take care Karen and congrats on the pans...
Karen, you are an awesome friend. Your friends are so lucky to have you. Glad that you were able to help her out! And, glad that you got new pots and pans w/your DH......we need some of those desperately too! LOL
