My little baby will be having her 1st birthday party! She will no longer be a baby, but she'll turn into a ..... TODDLER!!!! Waaaaaa...... :( :( Where have time gone?

By Amy~moderator on Saturday, May 1, 2004 - 04:21 pm:

I know how you feel, I've gone through that twice with my older two, and I will be going through that with Seth very soon. Except I think it will be the hardest with Seth, because we are not planning on having any more children.

But, the bright side is that the toddler stage is very fun, too! Enjoy every moment, because time does fly.

I felt that way too, until he became a toddler. He's such a great little person at this point. I loved him because he was my baby, but now I really love being with him because we can interact on many more levels than we could when he was so little. He has such a great personality and he says the funniest and the sweetest things!
Happy birthday to your little one, but know that it just keeps getting better and better!

My experience has been a combination of Amy's and Ame's. My youngest dd was definitely my last, and so it was harder than it was with the first two but it's so fun to have another little person running around. She has a very different personality from my other two and I didn't realize that when she was a baby (they were all pretty easy-going.) But I'll still feel sorry for you since you can't get the baby-ness back! :(

I totally feel for you too! I does go by in a blink of an eye! Ask Trina, on my DD's first Birthday, I totally cried like a baby! My aunt who didn't have children said "Why are you crying?!" LOL! I said "Because! She's one! It went by SO fast!"

There are lots of fun things to look forward too! Just enjoy everyday!:)

Can't believe she will be a year already.. They grow so fast. And when you think of everything that has passed over the last year. It is amazing. This birthday should be extra special... Big hugs to you both... And every mile stone is sad. Be it their first birthday or their 15 it doesn't get any easier.

I had a complete meltdown a month ago when my DD turned 2!!! There was no consoling me!!! I just sat, staring at her, in her party dress, and couldn't believe that my baby wasn't a baby anymore!!! As much as I am having fun with her now, I still miss that last bottle of the night, when she would be in my arms and I would sing to her and she'd fall asleep!!!! I'm getting teary eyed now, thinking about it!!! Now, she tells me she wants to go to bed and walks right into her room!!!

I REALLY know the meaning of the word "bittersweet" now!!!

Angel, all of motherhood is like that and it doesn't get better! Last summer, I felt the same way when we started getting mail from the high school instead of the middle school for my oldest daughter. Now her freshman year is almost over and it FLEW by!

I know how you feel when my DD turned 1 it was sad now that she is 3 and I keep thinking 2 more years till school...I get feeling teary eyed.
She is the baby of 3 so it does make a difference, as Amy said.
My oldest DS is graduating high school on June 11 and I can remember his first birthday:) Time sure does go by to quickly.
Enjoy every minute of them growing up it sure flies by.

My younger dd's first grade teacher had a baby at the end of the school year. I saw that teacher today at work and asked her how old E. was going to be on her birthday. She said "5"! I should know that, since my dd is in 6th grade now, but where did the time go? She will start school herself in the fall!

SLOW DOWN

Hey, little boy, where have you been
and where pray tell are you going?
To fly a kite up to the sky
while all the winds are blowing.

Hey, little boy, remember me,
your mother home, and waiting?
Please share with me a dream or two
before the time for dating.

Hey, little boy,
the years are swift.
We have so few to share.
I'd like to hold you here with me,
but I'm not sure I'd dare.

The time must pass and you must grow
away from me I fear.
You're only four years old my son
so please stay one more year.

Right now you're Mommy's little guy.
Too soon you'll be a man.
So stay a while, and let me hold
these years while still I can.

Bea, you always make me cry! I'm going to start skipping past your posts when I see your big colored fonts. My youngest dd just asked if mommy's eyes hurt. She kissed them for me! I think that just makes it worse!
