Speaking of Wellbutrin....
Can somebody with experience with this anitidepressant tell me what dose they were on. There is the Wellbutrin Sr (time release) and Wellbutrin Xr (I think) and then there is just Wellbutrin. My doc. prescribed me a very low dose for post-partum? Not even the adult standard dose, in fact half the amount. I can't tell if it is working or not? I think so because I am more relaxed now, but that could be because ds is 5 months old and we are settled into our routine. I've been taking this med for 2 months. I'm also curious to find out what it helped with. Was it anxiety, depression? Also did you lose weight taking this drug. I've heard alot of people do. How long did you stay on it is another question. I have never taken antideppresants before....I don't like taking med's. It is so hard to know if I had post-partum, (I really didn't think so) or if I was just exhausted from looking after a new born. I wasn't depressed just a little over stressed, over whelmed with a new baby and lack of sleep? I still have my "cranky" days.....bottom line how can I tell if this drug is working as it should? I have checked on the website but would rather here a personal experience. Thanks.
I'm not nor have I ever taken that particular medication but when I started paxil the difference was very evident. Not only to me but the people around me saw a definite change as well, like night and day. It does take a while for most medications to take effect but I would guess after 2 months you should be experiencing some differnces if it's going to work for you. When it comes to the medications I prefer to take the time released version so that you're only taking one pill a day and still getting the effects all day. Good luck with this, maybe if you do think it was just tiredness you can talk to your doctor about going off of it and seeing how you do? I think we all have "cranky" days but when it's more days like that than good days, that's when some sort of help is probably needed. Geeze I hope that made sense.
I took wellbutrin to help me quit smoking. It was the wellbutrinXr.I have tried other antidepressants also and I think that the wellbutrin had the fewest side effects, for me any way.If you don`t think it is doing anything then talk with your Dr.I remember having a dry mouth with it. I didn`t lose any weight though unfortunately.
I took wellbutrin for a while for my weight gain and it didn't help at all. The doctor started me on 100 mg and then increased it to 300 which was way to much. I had been on sarafem like for 2 years before this for my PMS and I slowly took myself off because I thought it was part of my weight gain. The sarefem had a lot of side effects and the wellbutrin had less but, I went off from it anyways. I don't feel like it did anything for me.
I was taking 100mg and loved it. I was a little depressed post-partum but for some reason my big problem was temper. Usually I am very easy-going and mild but I would blow up over the littlest thing. Throwing things (not at people), I kicked the wall and left a hole (oops!), learned to kick the washer or dryer (won't break but there are several shoe prints on it now!), etc. After about 3 weeks I noticed a difference and after 6-8 months I went off of it. Coincidently, this was when I stopped nursing, maybe a hormonal issue? I did this with every pregnancy and I haven't taken anything for about 2 years but I recently started having trouble with my temper and I'm feeling overwhelmed again. I've got an appt. coming up so I can go back on and see if it helps. No side effects including weight loss I also had a couple of anxiety attacks. Maybe 4, nothing major or traumatic, just garden variety. I would talk to your Dr. about weaning you off them but I would suggest keeping a quick mood journal for the next 2 weeks and then for the month after, for comparison. My memory wasn't the best at remembering accurately the way I felt. Take into account what other people think. I always felt like my temper was justified but others (dh, mom, friends) told me I was overreacting and now I see that they were right. I hated taking meds too but when I wasn't on them, and needed to be, I hated the way I felt more.
Everything makes sense that is posted. A journal is probably my best bet. I don't know what to think. The winter makes everyone feel a little or alot blah...usually when Spring hits I naturally feel better. I am more relaxed and when I go out shopping or something I don't really have that rushed feeling that I did a couple of months back. Oh, well I'll talk to my Doctor. I feel like my normal self...not like I did a couple of months back, but not any different or better than normal. Gosh, now I'm wondering if I make any sense! LOL, thanks.
If you are better ask the doctor if you can go off. Maybe you don't need it anymore.
