My cat loves cantaloupe.....

Gosh, did I spell Cantaloupe right?

Anyways, this cat won't eat ham but he will meow endlessly when I am cutting into a cantaloupe. He absolutely loves the stuff. Any other odd kitty's or doggies or....out there with strange appetites?

My sister's cat was born in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant. He loved pasta!

My cat doesn't have any weird foods that he likes, but he loves to eat (and then throw up) curling ribbon and Easter grass. My parents have a cat who loves to lick photos. LOL

One of our former cats liked cantaloupe! LOL!

Pam, Stripey (may she rest in peace) was a photo licker. Gosh, I miss her. text description

Beware of that curling ribbon and easter grass. I've heard similar stories of cats eating it, but they didn't have happy endings. :(

Our current two cats:
Mandy LOVES corn and peas. She will appear out of no where and pester us until we give her some.

Andy likes the pimento pieces that come in olives. Very weird! He will also eat regular Goldfish crackers and Tostito corn chips. LOL!

We had a cat that we picked up off the streets in Frankfurt, Germany who loved cantaloupe and sauerkraut. We had a dog who loved peanut butter, and looked so dumb trying to get it off the roof of her mouth.

Our previous dog LOVED baby carrots and pretty much any people food. We haven't really given Jasmine too much people food yet (not that she hasn't tried to get some, though), so we really don't know what weird things she might like. We are still teaching her food manners, so we don't want to willy-nilly give her food. We haven't been giving her extra treats too much, either, while we have been trying to get the potty thing figured out. Of course, the times I took her out to possibly go, I had a treat and she didn't go. When the kids took her out and she DID go, they didn't have treats. We can't win.

My dh had a cat that ate the lettuce off of McDonalds chicken sandwiches. Not the chicken, just the lettuce. We also had a cat that ate popcorn. All our cats have liked ice cream. It seems a little weird to me, but maybe it's normal, it is a dairy product.

Oh, I just remembered, Jasmine likes peanuts. DH gave her some. So, did Honey.

My cat loved to lick plastic bags. I had never heard of cats that like Cantaloupe. I can't even imagine one that likes sauerkraut (I love the stuff, but my DH hates the smell of it).

We had a cat that loved corn and broccoli. If we didn't clear the table promptly, he'd ignore any leftover meat and head straight for corn or broccoli if it was on the table. And I had a cat that was crazy for Wheat Thins. I had to put them in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid - otherwise he'd work at the cabinet they were in to get it open and tear the box open.

We used to have a cat that liked cantaloupe, lettuce and cheddar cheese. He was the funniest animal!

My dog likes popcorn. You should see that! It's hysterical watching her chew it.

My mom's cat likes to lick anything plastic.

By Trina~moderator on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 10:44 am:

Speaking of plastic, I forgot to mention our cat Mandy is also called "Munchie" because she licks, chews and eats plastic. Then she hurls! EWWWW!! We have to be sure to put everything that's plastic away. I read somewhere that there's a chemical in the plastic that attracts them.

By Tink on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 11:17 am:

I completely forgot about our current cat eating broccoli. He'll also pass up any meat on the table. I steam it in chicken broth, do you think that has anything to do with it? Ginny, do you cook it like that??

By Momaroze on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 11:45 am:

LOL, that was fun reading all of your postings. It amazes me what are animals will eat. Lettuce but not the chicken? Veg's but not meat!! LOL, Sauerkraut, broccoli!!

Very funny everyone. Animals can be so much fun.

My cat loves the taste of my creative memories tape runner. she doesn't chew on the plastic, just the blue runners...if you scrap you know what i am talking about!

By Tink on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 04:38 pm:

One of my cats (the broccoli-eating one) chews on hairbrush bristles. She hates to be brushed and she is short-haired so no problem, but the other is long and if the brush is out she loves to chew on it. She'll also do this to our brushes. Eeewww!

By Cat on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 04:47 pm:

We had a dog that liked onions and califlower. She liked other foods, too, but those I thought were kind of odd. :)

One of our cats (Seree) won't touch people food. Nothing. She likes her cat food and there are a couple different kinds of cat treats she likes and that's it. Fine with me. :) Gizmo likes popcorn, ice cream and cream cheese. The cream cheese we found out one morning when Robin shared a bagel with her. EWWWW!!! Whatever...
