I'm thinking it's time for a new hair style. Does anyone know of any good web sites with photos, etc.?

By Cat on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 - 03:35 pm:

I usually just do a search and see what comes up. I'm thinking the same thing. Especially with my bangs growing out. I'm thinking I need something that will blend them into the rest of my mop! lol

No, but if you find one, I want it!

I just changed my hair color this past weekend - MAJOR change! And I'm *in the market* for a new hair style too..........

No, but you can buy a Hairstyle magazine that has a huge cutout section in it with all different kinds of styles. I usually do that and bring it in to my stylist. I think I *might* still have a few. I'll look around.:)

I forgot, I've used this Website to look a hairstyles before. They have a Hairstyle Gallery. Some are a little crazy, if I remember right, but it was the only one I ever found.

do a google search for "hairstyles" or "haircuts" there are tons of them, of course i think you have to pay to see some of them. I wish i could remember the one I used before i got my new haircut.... some of these sites even tell you the kind of cut that looks right with the shape of your face.

I think I looked through the actual "hairstyles" magazine.

If you have a regular stylist, your best bet is to book an appointment for a trim and talk over some different styles she or he thinks would be good for you. Sometimes you can like a style but it just isn't right for you because of your hair type more so than the shape of your face, etc.
Also discuss how much time and effort will go into styling the new do. Many of these just shake and go looks take hours and lots of products!
I learned the hard way. I saw a picture in a mag. Loved the hair style and had it cut. It was so totally wrong for me. It was wrong for my personality and my style of dress and make up (way too trendy).
Take his/her suggestions and think about them for at least a week. Get some opinions.
Then go for it!

I always have a hard time looking for styles online. It takes so long to weed through all the crazy ones!
I've always had the best luck going to the salon and looking through their books. You don't have to have an appointment, just tell them you'd like to look through their books and then make an appointment if you find something you look.
Oh yeah....be sure to do a before and after....and then be sure to post it!!!!!
Good luck!

Thanks, ladies! Actually, my very best friend is a hairstylist, and she said she has some ideas for me. She knows me and my hair well and is definitely the ONE person I trust the judgement of! However, we live 4 hrs. apart and I won't be seeing her until next month. Bummer... My local hairstylist is OK for trims but she's into the new, trendy styles that are just so not ME. KWIM?! I'm 40 and very conservative. I need/want something low maintenance that is flattering and professional looking. Is that possible?! LOL!

I've surfed several hairstyle web sites and they're all pretty wild. I did find a pic I liked in a style magazine at my Mom's salon in VA, but of course I couldn't bring it home with me. Argh. Guess I need to wait until I visit my friend.

I've been growing out my layers and my hair is the longest it has been in years. Not quite shoulder length. I like it, but it's not easy to put up and gets in my way when I'm doing car seat checks. Although DH has never come right out and said he doesn't like it, he has asked several times if I'll ever get it cut shorter again. I also heard my Mom tell DH that she liked my hair shorter better. DH agreed! *Heavy Sigh* Feeling frumpy and needing a change...

I'll keep you posted.

Robin, I am SO NOT photogenic!! I'll *think* about before and after pics. LOL!

LOL Trina...I'm definitely not photogenic either. I'm always so disappointed in pictures of myself LOL.

I've just changed my hairstyle from a spiral w/bangs, to totally straight, but slightly angled in the back, and growing my bangs out....it is SO much easier, and I was totally doubtful at first but dh encouraged it and I am so glad he did, I am very happy with it now. Good luck, it is so hard to change your hairstyle if you've had it for a long time.

Try here. You are supposed to be able to upload a photo of yourself and actually try the styles "on"
