TV isn't all bad ;)
I have a deal with my kids, they can keep their rooms as they wish as long as once a week they pick up so the cleaning lady can come in. I will also do their laundry for them, but they must bring their dirty clothes to the laundry room. My 14 year old ds, was not keeping his end of bargain so he wasn't getting his room cleaned or getting his clothes washed. I hate to say but this was going on for a several weeks. He would wash something at night and dry it in the am..somtimes going to school in slightly damp clothes! LOL Anyway, trying to teach a lesson in logical consequences, I just let this go on. Thursday he comes in and says, "I want you to take the cords to my PS2 and hide them. I feel like I have been spending too much time playing my games." He also started cleaning his room, did all his laundry and even FOLDED it and put it up (didn' even know he knew how to fold!) I asked him what brought on this change just knowing it was going to be my great lesson in logical consequences, and he says "I was watching Family Guy the other night, and one of the characters got totally addicted to tv and went insane. I didn't want that to happen to me!" LOL I guess whatever works.
Proud Mommy moment!
LOL! Don't you love those moments?
LOL too funny, yep t.v. is not all that bad sometimes!
Wish it had more to do with my great parenting skills! LOL ;)
I can't blame you for wanting that but this might be a case of the ends justifying the means!
Yep! LOL
Can he come and teach my 14yo?? We got her a hamper so it is easier for her to bring me her laundry, but she never takes it back upstairs! Do her own laundry? fold and put away?? Gee, what novel concepts. I think a 14yo should be more than capable! LOL!
Why is it that as toddlers they love to do laundry, but they loose it when they're actually capable of doing the job on their own? My two year old loves to put the clothes in the washer for me (we have a front loader), transfer them to the dryer and then pull them out and hand them to me to fold when they're dry. I'll have to take pictures so that when he "forgets" I'll be able to prove that he actually used to do it! Ame
Dawn, my kids drop their clothes right NEXT to the hamper..can't quite get it in! rme LOL Ame, no joke!
My dks and DH do that! My dh also puts the wrappers from food in the sink! I can't figure out why the popsicle papers should go there instead of the garbage can 3 feet away!
