Crockpot and Fish?

Can you cook fish in a crockpot? Maybe a hearty salmon or sea bass?
I wouldn't see why not. Has anyone tried it before?

I've poached fish in a savory stock in the oven, so I guess you could use that method in a crock pot.

I don't see why not. It might flake apart very easily and you'll have to be careful dishing it out, but I would think it'd be good.

I am a huge crockpot user, but I am not sure. It would have to be a really thick or whole fish. I looked through a bunch of my recipes/crockpot sites and this was the only recipe I could find, most of them were chowder/gumbo type recipes. It takes such a short time to cook it in the oven anyway.

Citrus Fish Recipe
1 1/2 lb. fish fillets
Salt and pepper to taste
1 med. onion, chopped
5 tbsp. chopped parsley
4 tsp. oil
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
2 tsp. grated orange rind
Orange and lemon slices
Butter slow cooker/Crock Pot and put salt and pepper on fish to taste. Then place fish in pot. Put onion, parsley and grated rinds and oil over fish. Cover and cook on low for 1 1/2 hours. Serve garnished with orange and lemon slices

Hmm, good question. Never tried it before. *If* we ever have fish, I like to cook it and serve it ASAP. I don't like the fishy smell to fill up the house. I don't know if I could handle cooking it in the crock-pot for hours.

The only thing I would question is if it would just fall apart!! Fish doesn't take too long to cook, so I would think it would get way too soft, but I guess anything is worth a try!!
