Can you make BBQ in crock........

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: Can you make BBQ in crock........

without cooking the pork first?

Usually, I make mine with the left over pork from grilling out. But I forgot to cook up the pork today while I was grilling. Can I just put the uncooked country pork ribs into the crock w/ the BBQ sauce, or should I boil it first?

I make mine in the crock pot without cooking first. I buy a pork roast and rub it with brown sugar, then add a little apple juice to the crock pot. When it's done, and shredded, I add a jar of KCMasterpiece and serve on buns. Yumm!:)

The only meat I do not brown or cook first for the crockpot is ground beef.
Your pork will be fine and very tender. :)

Eve, I'm going to have to try that! It sounds great!

Dana, I just throw my pork roast in with a tiny amount of water and cook all day. But I like Eve's way better, LOL

Thanks everyone. Before there was a reply, I went ahead and dirtied a pot with boiling first. Sounds like it would have been nicer cooked completely in the crock. Oh well. I don't think you can go wrong with BBQ in the crock regardless :)

Were these ribs or a roast? I have always had to boil my ribs first when I do them in the crockpot. Roasts, I just toss in.
