Wish me luck!!
Well i have always lived an apartments and now i live in a townhouse so i actually have somehwat of a yard! This weekend i am going to plant flowers and stuff for the first time! I have done this at my mothers but she likes BIG plants and i want a nice organized flowerbed with LITTLE flowers, lol!! I am renting a tiller and going at it!! Wish me luck!!!
Hey Kenna, if you want a yard to plant things in, I will gladly share mine! LOL I am SO not into my yard...or planting......or gardening.......Years ago we did *square foot* gardening and had a wonderful vegetable garden with around a dozen different things growing.... we could go out and pick fresh salad every night. But flowers and stuff.....I have a brown thumb and my yard looks like a barren wasteland. So.......good luck with your gardening!!!
Yes Karen that is my fear! I kill everything that sets foot in my house plant wise so i am a little worried but i am gonna try anyways, lol. So maybe i should ask for luck for the flowers instead of me, LOL
Flowers aren't that hard to grow! My flower garden usually looks good every year! 2003 Flowers I can't wait until it's warm enough! I like buying a seed mixture and just planting it at random.
I love to garden it is relaxing to me. i just did my flowerbeds a couple weeks ago and I still have work to do out there. You will have fun, I hope!
Sometimes I envy those of you who enjoy this stuff......simply because my yard is frankly an embarrassment. I'd like to just pave the sucker and paint it green!
Good Luck Kenna, It's great your little ones are old enough that you can do it! I have a creek running through my backyard and am petrifide about letting my son run around unless I am within grabbing distance. Once we build a fenced in play area (llike never) maybe I'll be able to do it. For now, I'll just enjoy all the gardening all of you are doing. Keep sending pictures! Ame
Good luck and have fun!!
Good luck! I'm sure it will look great I could also send some of my yard to you, along with Karens! We have way to much to take care of.
LOL Karen, you sound like my mom! I love working in the yard..well..not mowing, just planting and tending to flowers and garden. Today I'm going to go out and start my veggie garden. I'm sooo excited!

lol sorry for the double post!
Have a great time! Take some photos for us when you are all done!
well i just got home from getting some flowers!! I got some really cool looking ones, though i only got one of each to see how they do. I got 4 lillies- orange and pink. I can't wait till saturday!!!! One of my favorites is the picasso, i had never heard of this but it looks really neat in the picture! Its a bulb that is to be planted now and blooms in summer!
Good luck Kenna! You have all my support but I'm going to live vicariously through you b/c I can't keep anything alive and have given up. Paving and painting it green is right up my alley!
If you can, before you till test your soil - either find a good gardening shop that will do a test, or buy one of the do it yourself kits. Then you will know what you need to add to your soil. Ask your neighbors with gardens what grows best for them, and what you need to add to your soil there. England has such a lovely tradition of gardening and all different kinds of gardens - formal, cottage, etc. I know you will find lots of avid gardeners whose brains you can pick, and who will be flattered to be asked. It might be a good way to make friends. The climate is so different there, and I don't know what your gardening zone is (that's important in terms of what you want to plant now to come up this year AND next). I repeat - pick the brains of your neighbors with gardens.
yippeeeeeee...i got flowers on my cherry tree!!! I am so proud!!!
Congrats! You guys have inspired me so I bought a hydrangea (I've always loved them and the nursery guy said they grow well here. A little warm but they should make it through the summer) I'm more worried about it making it through me than the summer! I love blossoming cherry trees, Kenna!I'm so proud of you.
