Saw this today at the doctor's office
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If your parents are still alive and still married ... you are very rare, even in the United States and Canada. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all. What then shall we lucky ones do? Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching. Sing like nobody's listening. -------------------------------------- My parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past Sunday! Isn't that great? Before them, my grandparents had lived to celebrate 62 years of marriage.
This brought tears to my eyes. There is so much that we take for granted. My parents aren't together anymore but I qualified for everything else. Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching. Sing like nobody's listening. I've seen this before but I love it each time. Unfortunately, I don't live this way as often as I'd like.
Okay, I'm getting picky here, but wouldn't working like you don't need the money mean you wouldn't work hard?? They're obviously saying to work hard, love hard, dance hard, sing hard....but if you don't NEED the money, who's going to necessarily work hard? Sorry to nitpick, but I think they worded it wrong and it's not letting me rest! Thanks for letting me vent a bit.
Oh wait!!! Are they saying DON'T work too hard??? See, I've overanalyzed this to death and it's driving me crazy!! Someone put me out of my misery!!!
I think they mean you should enjoy your work, not just do it for the money! Not just go through the motions to get a paycheck.
LOL, Kate! I take it to mean don't stress about work...find a job you love, and work because it's your passion, not just because the mortgage is due. Does that make more sense? I wouldn't want you tossing and turning about this tonight... :-)
Happynerdmom, that is what I was trying to say! You said it so much better!
I have that on my wall at work, and am reading it right now: Work like you don't need the money, Love like you've never been hurt, Dance like no one's watching.
I love it Makes me feel very fortunate. My girls have a wall hanging in their room that says "Dance Like Nobody's Watching".
