DD Sick

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: DD Sick
By Rayanne on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 - 09:00 am:

This weekend my DD started to sound congested. I thought that it was from her new tooth that was coming in with the extra saliva and all. Then on Sunday, she sounded worse. When she woke up, she was coughing and choking. She couldn't get anything out and then it all came out on my DH. I called her doctor and she said to give her a decongestant and pedialyte. She said that it's probably her tooth too. Then, yesterday when she woke up I got her aspirator and suctioned out her nose and it was a little green, and she weezing really bad. I called my DH and he said to call the doctor because the green stuuf out odf her nose usually means an infection. So I did and I got an appointment. When I went in, I was just thinking that my DD had a cold. When I left, I left with two prescriptions. One for Amoxisilin and the other for a steroid. I also walked out with a nebulizer. My DD had the beginning signs of pnemonia. I feel so horrible!! I know that I did everything right, but to see my little baby on a nebulizer for her breathing just breaks my heart.

{{{HUGS}}} Don't be so hard on yourself. Hope the meds start working quickly and your DD is back to normal soon. Be aware that steriods tend to make kids hyper/antsy. BTDT. :)

Don't be hard on yourself. If you'd gone in any earlier, the doc would have just said she had a cold and sent you home anyway. The nebulizer is a wonderful thing! It will make her feel much better.
I hope she and you feel better soon.

I agree with Trina, don't be so hard on yourself!! With little ones it always seems much worse than it is so you did the right things! You will run her into the ER a hundred times and come out with nothing but advice to take some tylenol and feel silly for overreacting and sometimes you get all kinds of prescriptions! Since they can't tell you what the problem is you just gotta use mommy judgement and it will work out!
Hope she feels better soon!!!

((((Hugs))))
Hope your DD is feeling better soon.

Be sure to read all the info that came with the steroids. My DD was prescribed steroids when she had RSV and we chose not to use them because of the side effects and possible consequences.

It sounds like you did exactly what a good Mom would do. You kept a watchful eye and then took her to the Dr.! You did good, Mom! I hope she is feeling better soon!:)

Big hugs to you. We've all BTDT, it's stressful, but you handled it well! I hope she feels better soon!!!
