What's There to do in Western Pennsylvania?
We're going to be driving from upstate NY thru western Pennsylvania to Huntington, West Virginia. Does anyone know of anything to do somewhere in the middle there?? It's a nine hour drive and my thought was to break it up both on the way down and back, by doing whatever, staying overnight, then continuing on. I have two girls, eight and three. Even if you know of something but it's not halfway, tell me about it. We're not going to be able to tack on a whole lot of extra driving, so if something great is there, but it's two hours east or something, that probably won't work. But who knows, tell me about that, too. TIA!!
Don't know my geography very well, but where is hershey pennsylvania in relation to where you are...I hear it smells yummy there!
Sadly, Hershey is too far east. I've found a few amusement parks and zoos, but nothing outstanding like Hershey or a Sea World or Disney type thing. We may scrap the idea and put me on a plane by myself. I'm in a wedding and was considering taking everyone along, that's why we were looking for something to do midway.
I live in NW PA. When are you going? There are lots of things to do.If you go through Erie, there is a nice hotel to stay at that has a cool inside waterpark. http://www.splashlagoon.com There is the Erie Zoo. summertime is fun up at the Peninsula swimming. There is Waldameer water and amusement park in Erie. http://www.waldameer.com/ There are also lots of wineries near Erie. More things can be found by going here: http://www.visiteriepa.com/what_to_do.shtml Near Conneaut Lake PA there is an old fashioned Amusement park called Conneaut Lake Park. http://www.geocities.com/le_cachot/conneautlakepark/conneauthome.html If you go further east of us, in Warren, PA, there is the kinzua dam which is cool.http://www.allegheny-vacation.com/dam.html In Linesville, PA, there is the Pymatuning Reservoir and its got some nature trails and the Linesville Spillway where you can see the ducks walk on the fish which is cool for kids. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/Parks/pymatuning.aspx I hope this helps.
Thank you, Renee! I'll check those sites out.
You are quite welcome.
