Moving to Houston...looking for information

I am moving to Houston (The Woodlands) from the NJ area and am looking for opinions...good, bad, ugly, indifferent. What are the schools like? Are the mosquitoes really as bad as they say? How do you handle fire ants?

The Woodlands is a beautiful area north of town. It has sort of a small town atmosphere. My son used to tell us that he wanted to move up there so he could come home from school everyday and fish. It's in a pretty good school district. There scores are always in the top. I don't know..how bad do they say the mosquitos are?? LOL Dusk is a bad time and you just learn not go out or spray up. I am not sure that is a big area for fire ants, but there are some good products to put on the mound.

My sister & family moved to Montgomery (outside of Houston) last summer (from Michigan). I haven't been there, but she loves it. I'm from NJ too, so I'm guessing it's alot cheaper to live down there than here!! Good luck.

Montgomery is actually just a little north of the Woodlands.

Hey! I live in Houston. (NORTHWEST) It is ok. Just really really humid, lots of bugs. The people here are very friendly. That will probably be the first thing you notice. WELCOME!
