I'm thinking I need some curtains or some sort of window decorations. Any suggestions?

Please excuse the messy living room.

Here's an idea of how it will look.

They are swags, tie backs and cafe curtains

By Tink on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 02:44 am:

I like the swags. I think they match the style of your room the best.

By Conni on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 07:38 am:

I like the swags too. ;) That was cool how you did that Bea!

By Eve on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 09:02 am:

That is cool, Bea!:)

I like the swags too. I think also one long bar across the whole window with 2 large panels would looks good. I think it would go well with your leather furniture. We have leather in our FR and I put up large panels and I like the look. I'd be glad to send you a photo.

I like these too:

I love those!

By Paulas on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 09:35 am:

Sure Eve...I would love to see a picture.

By Momaroze on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 10:11 am:

I would go with wooden shutters or bamboo blinds. They really have some nice wooden shutters and bamboo blinds out there. Do you have privacy looking out that window? I think the curtains would close it in too much. You could also add some sheer curtains (alot of colors, textures to choose from these days) to match as well. You have a lot of wooden pieces in that room I would match up with those. I have a large window in my living room....It is too beautiful to cover up. Thought I would throw my 2 cents in. Good luck:)

I like Eve's idea too. Going back and looking at the picture, sheers might not be a good addition. Nice living room.

I have white 3 inch wooden blinds in my living room with just a small valance on the top. It doesn't cover too much of the window, but still gives you enough privacy.

I like the swag and I have something like that in my dining room. But, I think that a swag look is kind of fancier. I like Eve's idea. I did this in our family room. I put up a really pretty decorative rod along the top of the window and hung two long panels on either side. I really like the way it looks and it has more of casual look. I also like it because it keeps the window open. I think this would look better with your furniture.

I like the swags, and also the picture that Eve posted. I think either one would look good in that room.

By Marg on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 11:07 am:

I like the color of your room Paula, any ideas for colors for curtains? I like all the ideas... I really like Bea's creativeness to see it before you buy!

By Kate on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 01:32 pm:

I love Eve's idea! Great look! Shutters would be cute, too, as someone else mentioned.

By Coopaveryben on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 05:14 pm:

I personally like the swags.

I have plantation shutters in my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. I love them! I think they would look great in your livingroom.
If you go with curtains, I like Eve's photo.

By Paulas on Thursday, April 15, 2004 - 02:55 am:

Annie, what are plantation shutters?

By Texannie on Thursday, April 15, 2004 - 08:12 am:

I have plantation shutters on all my windows in my house. They are great. I can redecorate without worrying about having to change the curtains too. I also have the vynl ones and never have to paint them either.

I LOVE plantation shutters. I was thinking about getting them for my LR. I think they are GREAT looking!

Here's another set of curtains I like that sort of have the swag effect. It also has shutters! I think they go all the way up the window, but you can always do them half way up too. :)

I have those big slats. I love them cause they really bring in the light, but dress the window too.
I like that swag, Eve.
