Itchy puppy

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: Itchy puppy
By Peggy13 on Sunday, April 11, 2004 - 02:47 pm:

We have a new Shih Tzu (14 weeks old) now, who has been itching for about 3 weeks. Had him to the vet a few times and he couldn't find anything - he thinks its psychsomatic. Anybody have itchy puppies before? I feel bad for him.

My moms Shih Tzu had this she finally used skin so soft on him and he stopped itching.

What are you feeding him? We have to feed our dog lamb and rice dogfood, otherwise she itches a lot.

We are feeding him what our breeder told us to - rice/lamb Eukanuba and Natural Balance. She said she has no history of allergies with her Shih Tzu's. The vet & breeder says he is too young yet for allergies. What is skin so soft??

It is a lotion from Avon.
It is known to relieve itching caused by insect bites and dry skin so she tried it on the dog and it worked.
I have heard it is a good flea deterrent also.

"Happy Jack" makes a spray for itchy dog skin, you can get it at Wal-mart just check and see how old they should be before you use something like that.

I've heard of using Skin So Soft also, it's worth a try.
