I did it!!!!...and boy am I tired
Some of you know my test-taking saga, but I'll spare the rest of you the details. At any rate I have been trying for the last 3 months to schedule and take my GRE so I can be an "official" doctoral student. I have taken the maximum number of hours for credit that I can without being officially enrolled. I spent 3 hours this morning taking the GRE and made the score I needed to make to get into the doctoral program. My application and transcripts have been sent, letters of recommendation written, and now my test scores are on their way. Hopefully I'll be able to really get going this fall. YAY!!! It's over with!! After the test I met a group of 9th and 10th grade girls from my Sunday school class and we painted the coffee shop in the student center at church for 5 hours. So...first sitting at a computer for 3 hours, then 5 hours of painting, and now off to clean the house and start cooking for tomorrow. You better believe I am taking a looooong nap tomorrow afternoon!
WOO HOO!! YOU GO GIRL!! Sounds like you deserve a little R&R!
Yay! Congrats to you!
Congratulations!
Congrats!!!!!
Pam, congratulations - and wow! What a day! I don't know many people who would schedule a painting session with 9th and 10th graders for painting on the day of such an important, difficult and lengthy examination. I am truly impressed. Actually, you know this is not the finish. It is the beginning of the next phase, which will be just as much hard work if not more. Obviously, you are up to it. Really proud of you and happy for you.
Congratulations Pam! ^5 TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!
WTG!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the well wishes! Yes, I was stupid to schedule both activities on the same day, but I did it before I realized they were on the same day. Ginny, yes I realize I have a long, hard road ahead of me . I have already taken 5 doctoral classes as a "non-matriculating student" (I do get credit for them though). I am planning on my degree taking at least 5 years since I am going part-time. However, at least there is joy in the journey. Not so with preparing for a standardized test!! All of my classes have been very fun and enlightening, but tough. There are no tests, just lots and lots of research and papers to write. The profs have been great and my fellow classmates (usually 10 yrs my junior) have been super about welcoming me into the program.
YEAH!!! Go, Pam!
Way to go You *are* the woman!
Hey Pam, I don't think you were stupid in your scheduling, but rather very courageous and really committed to the teen group and your church. Yes, the learning will be fun - I'm so glad you know that and appreciate the pleasure of learning. It is still a long hard row to hoe, but I know you will handle it in stride and handle it well. (I know just what you mean. I had a new doctor recently, for I forget what? When he came into the room I chuckled and he asked me why. I said one of the things that happen when you get older is that your doctors are young enough to be your children. He chuckled too, thank goodness, or I'd have had to find a different doctor. - I remember now - it was the guy who did my gum surgery. With luck I will never see him again after my checkup next week.)
YAY PAM!!! WOO HOO!!! WAY TO GO, GIRL!!!
That's fantastic. Bet you are feeling grand!
Whew! I am tired just reading about your day!! Congrats on getting through this phase and good luck with the next one!
I am impressed and inspired!! Good luck with everything!
