Dh left last night for yet another deployment. This time for 14 months :(. Yesterday was so incredibly hard. Today is a little better but I've been teary eyed several times today. The kids and I start school again in a couple days so that should help. Oh my the mess he left me. It looks as though a tornado went through my bedroom, bathroom and garage. My sis and I have managed to get the livingroom and kitchen cleaned back up so now I have the weekend to tackle the rest of it. Good grief! The kids seem to be doing ok today. They both slept with me last night, I'm hoping this doesn't continue.

My BIL's, 1st Sgt James Miracle, and his unit, Company G, 237th Brigade Support Battalion out of Medina, Ohio, will be on their way to Fort Hood tomorrow, 1/6/08. They will be gone 2 to 2 1/2 months there and then they deploy to Kuwait for 12 months.

Here is just one of the many articles on the deployment. If you click on View more photo's you can see the back of my BIL's head.

Jim enlisted in the Army the summer between his junior and senior year, then he joined the National Guard when he decided to return home. He is now 37 years old so he has nearly 20 years of training.. This isn't his first deployment over his military career, however during this tour he leaves two children (3 and 5 years old). :(

I can feel for you, my sister has been on a roller coaster since they received their orders and this weekend has made it all to real. They are trained to do this and this is what Jim loves.. Godspeed to all the troops.. and many prayers for the families that are staying behind..

((((HUGS))))

Thank you. This is deployment number 3 to Iraq. The kids are doing a lot better than I expected but its still early. Ds cried and took it really hard about an hour before he left and then again when he boarded the bus. Dd whom I though was standing with us waving good bye was at the bus next to us waving and we heard her yell "Good bye daddy, be safe, I love you!" And of course thats when I really lost it. We followed the line of bus' though the base and when we were finally able to pass them to honk and wave we realized that dh's bus has separated from the group. Luckily they were going pretty slow on the highway and we caught up to them just before we reached our exit. Dh called from a buddy's cell phone to tell us that we had just passed him in the nick of time as we were preparing to exit the freeway, He was hoping we would catch up to them. My son answered when he called because I was driving so I think that helped him a little. I signed up for WW's yesterday and hopefully will be half the wife when he returns, lol. Between that and school and the up coming move we should be pretty busy until he comes back for his 2 week visit. The 2nd 1/2 of his deployment will be setting up the new place and all the craziness of the back to back bdays and holidays. So hopefully that will go quickly. Oh did I mention that he voluntold me to be the KVC (Key Volunteer Coordinator) for his unit while they are deployed? So that is something else that should help to pass the time. We will be planning events to help keep the families spirits up and this will give us some time marks to get us though.

Bobbie- {{{hugs}}} to your family. Its never gets any easier to say goodbye.

I had no idea he was being redeployed. 14 months is a loooong time. What will he be doing in Iraq? Is it with the same unit as before?

And, good for you for signing up with WW's. I lost a lot of weight when Scott was gone. I hope you stay busy and your kids behave!! :) It's nice to have a support system for the active soldiers too. I wish I had that!! I was lucky enough to have some real good neighbors that invited us over for dinner, etc. It was soooo lonely.

On a side note, have you heard of a new movie coming out called "stop loss"??? Just the preview had me in non-stop tears. I was heaving in the theatre and the real movie hadn't even started. Ugh...rent some good chick fliks and stay away from that one!!!

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I know what you are going through. Our 2nd deployment is scheduled for sometime at the end of this year. Good luck and hang in there.

I am so sorry he had to be redeployed, my thoughts & prayers are with you all.

The bus story brought tears to my eyes. Hooray for cell phones.

You have such a can do attitude, I'm filled with awe. The plans and projects sound good. WW!?! I wouldn't have thought anyone could lose weight during their DH's deployment, but sounds like it's possible. Way to go Heidi! Good luck with that, Kristie--tho from you profile it doesn't look like you need to lose much. (I'm trying to lose about 70 pounds myself.)

Love that he "voluntold" YOU for KVC. :) That's like whoever didn't attend the meeting just volunteered, right?

Are your DKs sleeping in their own beds again? Ours were in our bed with the flimsiest of excuses, and it took a crowbar to pry them out.

I have absolutely no reference to compare with your story. Since I am older, my friends are not dealing with what you are. And growing up, heavy war time didn't exist, and my dad was out of the svc before he started his family.

I have a tough time even imagining how it must be to be a wife to a service man. Prayers for his safety and your family.

He called and emailed this morning. I was really starting to get worried. He is back in Iraq but with a different unit. He says that things are really calm where they are, I'm really hoping it stays that way. Dd is still sleeping with me but ds has made his way back to his room. I did go to the "meeting" problem is I was the only one that has the KVC training so I kinda got thown under the bus on that one but its going well so I can't complain too much, yet anyways, lol. I haven't heard of that movie yet but I really don't think I'm going to have too much time to watch movies. School is Tues-Fri 830-500 and Sat 8-2 so I'm going to be super busy my 2 days off as you can imagine. I rented 4 movies the other day, they are due back today by 5 and I have not watched even one of them. Well off to Pendleton to pick up my Rx.

By Mrsheidi on Sunday, January 6, 2008 - 06:18 pm:

K, good to hear that you've heard from him and it's calm. I am so happy for you!!

I had to do Blockbuster mailings. It was the only way...no added errands. :)
