Here's a doozy of a question!
Ok, I know I have been MIA for a while, but sometimes there is a question that only can get an answer on MV! LOL Mason just put a tub of hair wax in his hair! It's won't wash out! What will take it out?? OMG! I'm having a meltdown. LOL Yesterday it was a tub of lotion! Arrgh!
Goo gone??? Not sure...straight soap? Ohmygosh!!!
No no soap... I looking..
what brand is it?
Ok, I tried soap--seemed to help a bit. It seems plyable now. LOL I tried apricot scrub. "Oush, Mama!" That didn't help. I tried dish soap--no luck there. Not sure where the goo gone is. I tried baby powder--no luck. I would try baby oil, but I don't want him to ingest any. It's really dangerous. Whhaaa! He's going to be the death of me!! My sister told me the other day I needed to buy him his own bottle of hair mousse! ;)
I can't find the tub, otherwise I would tell you! LOL I did just find some on the wall...I'll look some more.
You say hair wax - will heat from a blow dryer soften/melt it? Under the circumstances, you probably should invest in lots of safety locks.
Oh no!!! Sounds like he might need a haircut.
Bobbie, thanks for looking for me. Baby oil seems to be doing the trick. I appreciate your help. I have safety locks, thank you.
Do you have a clarifying shampoo??? I am finding that you need to remove as much of the wax by hand as you can (which I am assuming you have already done because of trying other treatments) then you need to blow dry his hair at the warmest setting he can tolerate, to heat up the wax. Then you want to use something to bond to the wax, corn starch, baby powder, or baking soda. (baking soda is 1/2 cup soda, water added to make it a paste and work through hair) Leave in the powder/soda for at least a half hour, it should absorb some of the tacky residue. Apply a clarifying shampoo or dish liquid to the hair with out wetting the hair first. Next you will scrub in a little bit of water to work it into a lather. Suggesting the shampoo/dish liquid sit in the hair for at least 10 minutes. Rinse hair with the warmest water he can stand and reapply shampoo/dish liquid. I read that it may take several attempts, blow drying to the final rinse to get it out. It was suggested that you mix 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar with 1 quart water and use as a final rinse after shampooing, if you have it on hand that is, once you are feeling the wax is removed.. It also suggest that you can use a leave in conditioner to restore the oils. You will need to remove the baby oil.. Rinse out with vinegar or use dish soap for the first wash and then rewash with his regular shampoo.. The reason you don't want to use shampoo to remove the wax is because all shampoos not used to clarify the hair have wax in them. You are just adding more wax to an already waxy sittuation.. LOL
Typically, and this is how soap works, is that the fat part attaches to the fat part in the wax and then the polar part attaches to the water you rinse it with.
ROFL...do we get to see a pic??? ;) Only Mason...lol...only Mason... I don't have any suggestions, but I will see if I can find anything that hasn't been suggested yet. Good luck!
LOL Eve, how's it going? Did you get the wax out? My ds got into a tube of Destin ointment when he was around 2. All I can say is what a mess!! I don't think we ever got it completely out of the carpet!
Please tell us you took pictures!!! These are hilarious, precious moments that must be captured in film for future embarassment opportunities.
Take lots of pics and once you're through it all, scrap it!! LOL I feel for you. I would be having a c-o-w. Hope it all comes out!
DEFINATELY take pictures!!!!! In our family, we grab the camera first, and re-act, second! TeeHee !! How old is little Mason? He sounds like my DGS that also is named Mason. Anytime my DD calls me and tells me about some outrageous thing one of her children has done,it's almost always Mason!! The name just seems to fit him perfect!!
