VCR's and What you have found in them?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: VCR's and What you have found in them?
By Coopaveryben on Friday, April 2, 2004 - 05:12 pm:

My youngest DS is at the...."what can fit in the VCR" stage. So far this week I have successfully managed to retrieve a small plastic horse, a piece of cheese, and a toy car from the VCR. From the toilet I have gotten out a shoe and my DS's tooth brush...needless to say we didn't keep that one.
What things have you found in your VCR, Toilet, or anywhere else?

Nothing but my sister's twins stuck a peanut butter sandwich in hers.

I had a locked cover for our VCR when the kids were little, so they never did get anything in ours. Our nephew, however, put a ruler in my fil's. Fil was really ticked (it broke the VCR). Not as ticked as the plastic pop-lock in the space heater, though. That melted and STUNK, not to mention could have started a fire. I think he was 2 when he did that. He's almost 14 now and still finds plenty of things to do to get into trouble and tick off Pepa! lol

My kids never stuck anything in the vcr. Once, though, the vcr ate the sticker that you put on the tape to identify it! It was my fault and the vcr was never the same. We had to replace it.

My ds used to put cd's and dvd's in the vcr. dd has never put anything in the vcr as we have bought a tall entertainment center and she can't reach it. However, she has cramed a floppy disk in the cd drive on my computer, that was fun to dig out!

My oldest daughter learned how to use the vcr when she was 3. She had to take a chair over their to use it. She knew how to push play and rewind and possibly stop. I can't remember anymore. She never put anything in there that wasn't a tape. I think I told her to make sure that the arrow was on top and facing forward.

Coins in the vcr. It stopped working after that. :(

The only thing i have found in the VCR is a sticker. For some reason the tape was not working one day, so i finally peeked in there and stuck my finger in and found the sticker...it worked fine after i got it out.

Wow, we've been fortunate that way! Nothing in our VCRs but video tapes. :) When my kids were younger we used a plastic TV/VCR guard.

Before our guard, we found Cheetohs!

My nephew shot the DVD player full of chocolate syrup. He had it all over the couch, the carpet, the TV and the DVD player.

But our major issue was the putting the VCR tapes in backwards. Which makes them stuck. We learned really quickly how to pop them out with a butter knife.

Here's an embarrassing one: my DS put a tube of K-Y Jelly down the toilet. My DH was out of town and I had to get a plumber who then had to take the toilet off and shook it outside on our front lawn. I was mortified!!!!!

That was 18 years ago.

If it will fit, my kids have tried! Cell phones, sandwiches, crackers, a smushed up ball of scotch tape, a baby washcloth. We finally got a guard but we kept thinking that they'd finally learned! My son has a disability that makes him perseverate on different things and that's what he got stuck on for a while. Oh yeah, the VCR lived through it all!LOL
