What color is your bedroom?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: What color is your bedroom?
By Marg on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 01:11 pm:

Ours is the very, very light pink (?) I forget the color name, but it's going on 13 years and I really want to make a color change. I have a beautiful floral border. I like the border, but the paint. I would like a more sophisticated look.

Need ideas...

By Texannie on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 01:14 pm:

Ours is 13 years old too and WAS a peach but looks pink now! I am dying to change but have been doing other rooms, so I am broke now. I did get to redo our bath cause we had a leak, so I did it in a real rich beige in plans of painting our bedroom that color and then getting bedding with gold, marron and greens in it.

By Marg on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 01:26 pm:

You sound like me Annie, our bedroom was new back in 91 but I've redone most of the other rooms. I'm working on the last bedroom and our bedroom will be next.

Those are the exact colors I would love to use! I would love gold and maroon and either a really deep green or an olive green. Our bedroom will have to wait also. I picked out a bedroom suit I would really like to have or something like it. So I do have a color for that. I would love to change the carpet to hardwood, but dh said floor would be cold. I'm trying to talk him into hardwood with area rugs.

By Texannie on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 01:28 pm:

My home would really fantastic if I didn't have my husband in the way of all my plans! LOL

By Marg on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 01:33 pm:

OMG Annie;) Dh just lets me go now! He thinks my ideas are wild and can't envision what they will look like in the end, so he has a lot of trust in me:)

He has liked everything I've done, but when I start he just gets that look on his face.

Mostly I just have been painting and switching out for accessories. Yes, I'm really cheap and look for bargains.

Our house was all white inside (accept for our bedroom) and a few years ago I finally got brave and painted with a lot of colors!

By Momoffour on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 02:22 pm:

mines white and I hate it. we are currently doint the rooms and ours is last. My Mom and I are doing oldest daughters first she wants a rain forest scene done on her walls. its the scene that is on most computers as back grounds or wall paper the black panther. We've got almost all the green plants and stuff in but still have all the animals. Then my 5 year old and 2 year old girls share a room and oldest once wants butterflies all over her walls and Josie wants Dora. and Joshua wants spiderman, hulk, superman, and bat man on his walls so I have ways to go.I have no clue what to do in our room yet. I like Yellow something bright and makes you feel good

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 02:24 pm:

Ours is the same off-white that was on the walls when we moved in 7-1/2 years ago. Boring as all get out! LOL!

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 02:40 pm:

Mine is a carmel color with a cream glaze finish over it. It is highly textured and looks like it was done years ago and aged. Like old stucko.
I have sage green accents and maple antique furniture. It is a very relaxing room (compared to my other more colorful rooms in the house)

By Rayanne on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 04:17 pm:

My room is Sage Green. Very beautiful and comforting to relax in.

By Mommyathome on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 04:58 pm:

Ours is white with oak crown molding and window sills (sp??). I like the white, but I don't like the oak. It makes it so we can't have any furniture in there other than oak. I want a new bedroom set.....maybe wrought iron? But it just wouldn't go with the oak. Maybe one day we'll move :) Or maybe buy this house so we can change what we would like to!

By Texannie on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 05:28 pm:

Oh, my dh likes my ideas, it's just that money thing that he likes even better! LOL

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 05:33 pm:

Plain, boring contractor's off white. :( Except for our half bath, the WHOLE house is off-white. BLAH!

By Amecmom on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 05:42 pm:

Our is a beautiful golden yellow - deep and flat and rich, with deep green/blue trim (I think the color is called campaign green, from Home Depot. Our doors are cream colored. It's my favorite room in the house. We could get away with such dramatic colors, because one wall is practically all windows so we have a lot of natural light. The walls are made of bead board and the molding is a medium dental - very Victorian.
The best part is that my husband chose the colors! No arguing or complaining.
I kind of want to re-paint the rest of the house to go with that room.

Our bedroom in sage green with burgandy and mustard as accent colors. Our sitting area off our bedroom is a mustard color. This is the first house that I have really decorated my bedroom. I love it.

By Renee on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 06:59 pm:

Ours is pure white with white trim. Very boring! I can't wait to do something to it like I did to the bathroom.

Unfortunately, I still have to figure out what to do since it has a cathedral ceiling which goes into the bath and the wall separating the bath and bedroom does not go all the way up. So I do not want to have the color show through from being inside the bath. If that makes sense. I am not sure it would look right if I painted up 8 feet and put a border and left the top up to the ceiling stay white....

By Eve on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 07:10 pm:

A very pale yellow. (Moon drop) We love it.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 07:25 pm:

Purple mauve......and the furniture is whitewashed finished wood.....the whole room is beach themed and the comfortor set is a muted seafoam green with shells, including 4 different shades of the purple/plum color in it. We love ours.

By Eve on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 07:40 pm:

Karen, I'd still love to see a photo! You'll have to email me!;)

By My2girlygirls on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 07:40 pm:

Ours is gold, almost a "mustardy" gold. Sounds ugly I know, but it is actually beautiful Our bedspread has the gold, olive green and burgundy.
Spare bedroom is pale blue, Kiersten's room is sunshiny yellow and Courtney's is brownish, called gingerbread, goes perfectly with the whole leopard theme she has. I know you didn't ask about every room in my house but I thought I would share anyway! :-)

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 08:10 pm:

Eve, I'll take some pics in a day or two - I need to clean the bedroom! LOL It's a disaster, we had a ceiling fan installed in there last night. I even have prints of my photos framed on the walls now.

By Renee on Thursday, April 1, 2004 - 07:18 am:

I'd love to see yours too Karen. Its in the colors that I'd love to use except my furniture is light pine.

By Conni on Thursday, April 1, 2004 - 08:22 am:

Boring Taupe (sherwin williams brand china doll) and white trim. I want to paint it a Mustard color dh says no way. So I am thinking of a darker/warmer taupe. And I want to paint the cieling too.

I have my own room. It has pale gold, light blue and white stripe wallpaper, with pale gold wood trim. There are oak floors with antique hooked floral rugs.

Oh Bea, that is so beautiful! It just makes you want to take a nap, and I just got up:)

By Pamt on Friday, April 2, 2004 - 10:43 am:

Mine is ragrolled a dusky blue on a lighter blue (not baby blue though)---very restful and relaxing. It gives the feeling of a very comfy, broken in pair of jeans. We have antique cherry furniture, candles everywhere, a predominantly blue and yellow quilt that I made, and beautiful art on the walls. I strongly believe in making your bedroom relaxing, romantic, and comfortable. After all it is a sanctuary for dh and I and a place to recharge our batteries and rest. That's the same reason we don't have and will never have a TV in our bedroom. The master bedroom is for two things...and one of them is sleep :)

By Fraggle on Friday, April 2, 2004 - 01:09 pm:

Our walls are burgandy/wine color. I love it-DH actually picked the color. I lightened the room up with a big white down comforter and white semi-sheers on the windows. The other colors in the room are sage and tan.

By Tonya on Friday, April 2, 2004 - 03:34 pm:

Here is our room and it has gray carpet and a black, red, silver and gray swirl border on the walls.
