Any of you use Schwanns, the delivery food service? Whats your favorite meal???

By Texannie on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 08:21 am:

I used to. My kids especially liked their ice cream, but I could find the same things cheaper so I quit.

I really don't buy any meals from them, just their ice cream and ice pops.
I do like their bagel dogs and ranchero's but they are kind of expensive in my opinion.

We used to have Schwann's come on a regular basis, but it seemed we ended up never being here when they came, or it would be before payday and we wouldn't want to buy anything. I don't really remember what meals we liked, but we for sure like the Sundae Cones, and once in a while, we are out and about when we have money and will stop by a Schwann's truck on the street and buy a box. It's a treat then. No one in our house needs to have Sundae Cones on a regular basis and they are pretty expensive, but they are OOHHHHHH soooo good!

The meals are good, but they are also expensive.

I love their lemonade!

I guess I am afraid of trying new things because they are pricey, I'm afraid of wasting the money on something that no one likes!

What are the things you purchase Melissa?

Dh loves buying the filet mignon. I LOVE the Confetti Cake ice cream. Other than that, weve been beginners and trying trying random things. There are things we wont buy b/c of the price but were just being adventerous (sp?) right now.

I am VERY impressed with the ice cream though. And im not even an ice cream fan!

We get the chicken bites (not nuggets), quick cook fries, broccoli, I like the tortilini alfredo and dh likes the 5" sausage pizzas and the pork egg rolls (they don't have shrimp in them--dh is allergic). For treats we get the root beer float cups, cherry freeze cups and dh really likes the apple flautas. They also have a seasonal root beer float ice cream bar the kids are loving right now. There are other things we've tried and like, but don't buy them on a regular basis. Yes, some of their stuff is expensive, but some is pretty comparable and some is just worth the money. We don't buy their ice cream (remember when that was pretty much all they had--back in the 70's! lol). It is good, but I can get good stuff at the commissary for a fraction of the price.

Oh yeah, can't live without Schwann's! My favorite thing to buy is the chicken/pasta ready meals, although I wish they were just slightly larger. There's enough for each of the four of us to have a serving, but my dh ALWAYS wants two! So I usually wait and have these when it's just the girls and me and I don't want to cook. I love, love, love their ice cream! The only mistake purchase I've made were these orange and black striped tiger ice cream bars. The black stripes turned my dd's lips and tongue black and she looked an absolute horror!

I'm also a Schwanns addict!! I order like $70.00 every 2 weeks. Some of our favorites are the Chocolate and Chocolate Almond ice cream. We always order the fries and the mini pizzas. I love their fish and chips meal and their BBQ chicken drummies. I admit it is a bit pricy, but it is so easy!
