Swiffer Wet Jet
I just bought one of these the other day. So far I really love it! I love how it gets along the edges so well. But, I have a question for those of you that have one. Instead of buying the swiffer cleaner refills (not the pads, but the actual cleaner) can we just refill the bottle with a different cleaner.....or vinegar/water.... bleach/water and so on? The swiffer cleaner is so much more expensive than a lot of the other no-rinse cleaners on the market. I've already decided that as soon as my first bottle of swiffer is gone I'm going to save the bottle and fill it with water to use inbetween regular cleanings. What do you think? Have any of you substituted the swiffer cleaner with something else?
I guess I forgot to mention that I know if I used a different cleaner (pinesol, mr. clean...whatever) that it would have to be diluted with water. It just seems that it would save a TON of money to buy a bottle of pinesol and dilute it rather than keep rebuying the swiffer cleaner.
check out "mopkit.com". The guy who has this site was a soccer dad from my son's team. He had the same idea, but i guess it isn't as easy to refill.
Robin, don't you find that when you push the spray button, it sprays WAY beyond where you want it?? I actually hate the wet jet, specifically for that reason. I complained and they sent me a new one thinking mine was defective. Nope, they both spray enormous areas that I can't even clean without walking right on the sprayed area and getting wet footprints everywhere. If I clean an area and then back up several feet, and spray again, it ALWAYS hits the cleaned area and I have to go over it again. Sigh.... I can't spray anywhere near table legs or baseboards as it hits those areas about an inch or two up. Grrrrr..... Sorry, I have no refill advice.
Kate, thanks for that review. They make it look so cool on the commercial, but I have never gotten around to getting one. Now, maybe I won't bother.
You could always just buy a reusable spray bottle and fill it with whatever you like. I have a Swiffer, too, but now that we have the laminate floors that's what I'll probably do. So far I've just been getting a rag damp and wiping them down. Works pretty well.
I make my own for my clorox ready mop, the only problem is the foam the new cleaner makes when you first fill it..just do it slow. It works well for me! I love mine, unfortunetely so do the boys.
I also put my own stuff in the clorox ready mop. I have hard wood floors and use a special cleaner for them. I also use an armstong cleaner (once n done) for my regular floors. I just make the mix in th ready mop bottle and I'm good to go. I would guess you can do the same with the swiffer. Try it and see, before you go out and buy the refill. Ame
LOL Coopaveryben....my girls love ours too. I think our floor has been mopped a dozen times within the past few days! Kate....I do think it sprays a bit to far, but once I got the hang of it I can judge it easily and keep the spray where I want it. I really love it! Should have gotten one a long time ago. I was so sick of having to buy new mops because once I used them so much they would start to smell funny and look all gross. LOL
I like my Wetjet. It's great for the little spills or just a quick mop when someone is coming over with little notice. I don't know about refilling the bottles. I have never tried. It looks like it would be a pain though.
I kept the original bottle and just refill it with my own cleaners. I haven't had problem with it spraying too large an area..maybe mine is deffective?? LOL
I have the Clorox Ready Mop and love it. I use it on our Laminate floors with no problem. I have not tried making my own solution but since the bottles are refillable that seems like a great idea.
I have never used one but always wanted to get one. I am glad I got to read on here differnt peoples thoughts on it. I might still give it a try.....
I had one and we refilled it with our own cleaning solution. There is a little plastic strip under the cap that you have to cut with a knife so you can get the cap off to refill it.
